Maybe my original post came across wrong. I don't drink and certainly wasn't implying that people should get away with drinking and driving. Doesn't mean the check point wasn't a hassle.
Coming home from Church one Wednesday night my wife and I went through a license check point. We were in separate cars with I in front, and her behind me. When I was done the officer waved forward my wife, and after checking her license said to her "wow, the guy in front of you has the same last name!" (I had renewed my license since we moved, so the addresses were different.) My wife told him, yes he is my husband. Gave us a chuckle as my wife said the officer turned red with embarrassment. Was it a hassle? Yes, as it delayed us about five minutes on our drive home. Did they catch someone driving without a license, insurance, or under the influence? I certainly hope so.
