• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Driver hits motorcycle and says "I don't care"...

I hope the old fart in the car gets prosecuted fully for what appears to be intentional harm to the cyclist.

charges

At the minimum -- aggravated battery with a deadly weapon/motor vehicle
-- failure to maintain a single lane
-- crossing double yellow
-- hit and run with injury, depending upon how long and far and why the driver finally stopped

Given some time, I'd develop more.

The fine print in the article said no citations were given.

Let's hope that what goes around comes around.

I would have liked to see assault with a deadly weapon. :spyder2:

If you watch the whole video, the driver stopped just a 100 or so yards down the road!

More than likely no citation was given because the cop didn't see the accident or know how many laws he broke, I'm sure that he will be charged with a number of them by a judge.

OK i have a few things to say about this: first off it was a double yellow line but it did look like the guy did it deliberate & he too crossed the double
yellow just to do it, next the guy with the car had a serious attitude when he says 'i don't care'. the guy with the car is a dick & i hope they can
criminally charge him but at the least i would like him to lose his car & his house in the absolutely going to happen law suit.
this is the danger anyone who rides faces everyday whether it be 2, 3 or even 4 wheels you have to worry about a**hole drivers.

Passing on a double yellow is an interesting point to ponder/discuss. I know of several roads here where it is double yellow for many miles or more.

You get behind a car or truck that is going 30 mph in a 50 or so zone...how long are you going to follow?

I usually make the pass when safe. As in sufficient visibility to get around the slow vehicle, making sure the vehicle in front sees me, and signaling my intention. I also try to be aware and determine if the driver is going to play games with me on the pass. So far...

Be gentle.

Both were wrong. If he didn't try to pass on a double line, it never would have happened. But that said, the old man should get jail time...

First two could work, third will not because he stopped within 200 feet or so and got out of his vehicle.

Even though the bike was wrong for passing in a "Double-Yellow"; that's never an excuse to pull out to block him.
That sounds a bit like Motor-Vehicular Assault... nojoke

The thing that I noticed immediately is that the girl involved wasn't wearing
anything close to the right gear....her gravel rash would have been much reduced
had she had on some jeans with kevlar panels and a mesh jacket.
The car driver needs a good kicking....

Just goes to show ya . . . Gotta obey the rules and watch out for the crazies.

In rural areas, there's lots of old farmers who will drive along slow surveying the fields and suddenly start turning left without signaling since everyone in that area know where they are going! :yikes: If you aren't one of the locals you just have to be extra watchful!

Feel sorry for those two on the bike that got hit.

Glad this was captured on video and hope that car driver gets nailed. As I've warned my wife, there are a lot of idiots out there that regardless how they are driving still hate to get passed.

Not to worry....

Man was arrested and is being held for 2 counts for assault with a deadly weapon etc...faces 20 years each if convicted...:lecturef_smilie:
