LED vs High-end Halogen

You previously endorsed as a great product the Xenon Depot LED with braids for cooling. These were superior to the Halogens per your posts. As it seems now, your mention the Lamonsters are specific to the Spyder and superior to the Xenon Depot it seems.

This is the only part of your argumentative post that I will respond to. And solely to state that the Xenon Depot product as I installed in my RT back then was a great set of lamps and worked well in those projector housings. That was at a time when there were VERY few LED modules that would function well in projector housings at all. I stand by my review done 2 years ago now. Things may have changed or not, I have not done a side by side comparison between the Lamonster product and the Xenon Depot product for the RT headlights. Xenon depot STILL does not offer a compatible LED upgrade for the F3 fog lights.

To be completely above board, I am a Lamonster Garage installing dealer. But only because I install what works. What makes my customers happy. I could actually make more profit installing other brands.

I have seen the Lamonster and TricLED product for the RT fog lights side by side and there is no doubt which is the superior product in design, fit and function. They both work, one is just a step above.

My experience with H-4's is you get what you pay for. I was running lamps purchased from ebay in my ST, and replacing them every year. Until I purchased a set of Hellas from my local parts house. Paid more, but they've lasted over 3 years.

ENOUGH!!!

Gentlemen please, enough of this arguing! I have the best of both worlds! I have the TricLED LED headlights and the Lamonster LED fog lights. Whether this combination is better or worse than halogens, HID's, etc., I don't care! They work for me and provide plenty of light!! We can all argue all day as to what is the best. If the owner is happy, that's all that matters!!

I think the LED's are much better for BEING SEEN, but not so much for SEEING. And, the video proved it. Not worth the money they cost for the time being. :yikes:So, I wouldn't put them in my vehicle for seeing, but I might consider them for being seen on the Spyder...the cost though is a little ridiculous. Like everything else, the price will come down.

I'm a bit hesitant to install the 100/85 Hellas like I had in my ST because of the amount of heat generation. When I find something that powerful in an LED, that's what I'll be running.

JC, you got my curiosity up a bit. I pulled Xenon Depots website. Searched by vehicle, 2015 F3s, showed it uses an H4 with no mention of not available. They offered various LED and HID items with no mention of it not working in the F3. Not endorsing Xenon Depot, simply researching if there was info explaining why it was not available.

F3 Fog lamp is an H3, not H4.

Xenon Depot, as I already mentioned, shows the F3 uses a H4 headlight for high and low beam with no restrictions supporting your previous comments that they do not sell F3 LEDs.

JC, you now have me confused as to why we have gone from discussing LED headlights to fog lights.

The page from Xenon Depot is linked below, shown on the right it indicates they use an H4, and clicking the "H4" shows what they offer. Again not endorsing or condemning them, simply sharing to avoid confusion.

We were discussing LED replacement lamp modules. This covers Headlights and Fog lights. You brought up my review of the Xenon Depot product and asked why I was no longer using them. I told you Xenon Depot do not have an offering for the F3 fog lights that use an H3 lamp. Yes, the headlamps are H4. Lamonster carries both so for RT and F3 you can convert all 4 lamps at the same time, from the same vendor with a product that works.

It is my opinion based on first hand experience that some LED lamp modules work far better in specific applications than others. I simply gave one known good solution that fits and works well in these specific applications. There are others that, while they 'fit', function far worse than oem halogens in the Spyder lamp housings. Especially in the RT projector housings. That does not sound very universal to me. Call it what ever you want. Folks want lights that work well.

I am REALLY enjoying and learning from the responsible discussion from both PMK & JC on this LED discussion...I am very close to upgrading my RT headlights and only want to do it once and be happy...WE NEED this type of responsible discussion here on SL...THANK YOU to everyone for participating responsibly...larryd

I'm inclined to agree as far as the Xenon Depot LEDs. They really light up the road signs, but not the road. I'm not overly impressed by them but hate to toss $100 into the trash.

Overall, I would agree with that.

In regards to the LEDs in Projector Housings, it seems your experience differs from mine. I found that the high output, high quality LEDs I installed far surpassed the OEM Halogens with ease. Not quite as much depth as my BRP HIDs but pretty close.

Since you have installed what sounds like several brands of LEDs into RT Projector Housings, are you finding your current recommendation of Lamonster LEDs also lower performance than stock Halogens in the RT application? I have not ridden the Lamonster LEDs, but would consider them consideration as a viable option had they been available when I was installing my Cyclops Adventure Sports LEDs.

Yes I would consider the Lamonster LED modules for the RT a considerable upgrade if they are aligned properly. They usually come that way but have seen them mis adjusted in their mounts.
