• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS Replacement not under recall

Ok, just talked to our service manager concerning my wife's 09 RS. DPS failure message last week. Said it needs to be replaced $1400. Recall was done at time of recall by now defunct dealer. Warrantee long expired. Less than 2K miles since recall. I can't imagine this is normal wear and tear.

Any thoughts?

Your situation is one that has a couple sides to it. Buying a machine that is out of warranty can sometimes lead to expensive fixes with a machine like the RS.

We had a 2009 RS and it ran great after the DPS fix. 25K and still going, I am told.

If your machine has only 2000 miles on it since the replacement, it is an issue worth discussing with BRP service care representative--if you have an uncooperative dealer.

Not saying that they will fix it for free at this late time, but the worst they can do is say no.

We are the original owner of this 09 RS- bought it new and had the recall performed shortly after it was announced. Maintained as required since then but not ridden heavily.

I have an inquiry in to BPR. I most certainly am not looking into a free fix but this seems out of sorts.

Help...

brp has been known to help out in some situations. Always worth the effort. If this ends in being your dime you can get a better price from cheapcycleparts.com or search the used part (junk) yards. They will search the country and get in touch with you when they find your part. Bummer...:gaah:

This is a tough call...
You'll be asking BRP to make an exception for you... The low mileage does work in you favor, and I wish you the best of luck!

In my long experience with Spyders I have learned one very important thing......As long as it's running don't sweat it.....I'm serious...........If your constantly going into LIMP MODE that's a problem ....if not , well there hundreds of ridiculous redundant systems in the computers on these spyders that cause all sorts things to flash on the DASH , but are meaningless .....do a CODE check, I'll bet it doesn't show a CODE....meaning it's not really a problem......But do try and get BRP to back up their product....it should last more than 2000 miles ......Time doesn't wear it out .....JMHO....Mike,,, Good Luck
