• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS MANUFACTURE

They get it fer free and charge us for it??? Yay, another money making racket for BRP. Ain't dat lovely.

I think you are jumping to conclusions here, this is all speculation right now. Someone made a post that they thought that is what is happening by some other internet info they found. I would never jump so fast based on just general speculative posts here.

:agree:

Perhaps one of these would come in handy.....:roflblack:

Thanks, but I prefer my Magic 8 Ball. I just shook it and it said "Could Be". Now if I could only remember the question I asked it. :roflblack:

Way2Fast, do you think China will make higher quality parts once they receive your Spyder? :dontknow:

Just FYI....... it does not appear there is a relation between the Spyder DPS failures and the recent automotive electronic steering recalls....

This is an article I recall(;)) seeing that mentioned the number of Spyders recalled-- and the manufacturer of the DPS:

http://green.autoblog.com/2009/06/11/nearly-10-000-can-am-spyders-recalled-over-faulty-steering/

Kongsberg Inc is Norwegian and pretty big in marine items.

The recent recalls of electronic power steering systems on various cars (like the Chevy Cobolt) are dealing with units made by Koyo Seiko Company:

Can Am has been good to me.

BRP would have to issue a statement saying that they're going to warranty the DPS and whatever else for a period of time after a 'final' fix...whenever that is...it would make sense that they'd do this as there are major problems here...we'll have to wait and see...

As far as the manufacturer of the parts doing anything on their own...most likely not...

I called my dealer and they said my 2008 was on the steering recall list (in 2011?). I was # 14 on the list. They get a rebuilt steering unit and replaced mine. My # came up and they changed the steering unit and there is a tremendous improvement! I also called Wisconsin #'s (in your manual) and complained about the squeaky brakes. I said, "when I stop at a light the guy next to me asked if the brakes are always that loud and squeaky." Can Am said to have the tech department at my shop (not where I bought it) to give them a call. They did and replaced all three brake pads for $75. (normal charge for the recall, took about 1 and a half hours, cheap!) It almost steers too easy and stops perfectly quiet. I hope this helps.

:welcome:Nice to have you aboard. Most of us have had this recall done. Everyone should. As far as the brakes, your dealer probably put the gen 3 pads on. It should take care of the squeaks.

Glad you got it all fixed--- but there shouldn't have been ANY charge for the DPS recall-- and it would have been a completely NEW - different version of the DPS.
