• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DPS help please!!

When my DPS Failed, [08] It would take me on a white knuckle flight, By turning off and on in mid turns.:yikes:
And no limp or codes.....

When was that?? Did you talked to anybody in particular to make it happen??

I just stopped by BRP and asked the fella about it had CHECK DPS was on coming across the screen and said I heard there was a recall on this, he was skeptical but he put my serial number in computer and said yes there is. They had the new kit there and I dropped it off a week later and was fixxed. This was late July of this year. Doug

On the way home, heading up a steep grade on the freeway in KY, limp mode hit, the check engine light came on, and the Spyder coasted to a stop. I was able to restart but not reset the DPS warning and check engine light. There were no active faults. The full orange screen was able to be reduced to the small box if I hit the mode button every time it came on thereafter. I never was able to see an active code when I called them up, even while riding. I rode all the way to Corbin that way...about 120-140 miles. After a long gas and snack stop (not related :)), the Spyder was fine. Perhaps the DPS had cooled down by that time or something. At the next stop, for lunch, the throttle body failed, but it reset, too. We made it home OK...and stopped worrying after another tank of gas. Only one more DPS incident after that, and a couple of TB faults. I was checking at the dealer to set up an appointment when the TB went out completely as I was leaving the parking lot. They put it on BUDS right away, and ordered a DPS and throttle body that day. I don't know what the tech saw, but something must have been obvious.

Please, don't tell me we're having a second round of TB faults and DPS faults. Please...

Who knows. This was my second TB replacement...but I never had the very last update that supposedly did even more to correct the problem. My first TB replacement was very early in the game. As to the DPS...things happen! I really am not concerned at this point, but I have a few years of BEST left.

Ok, i won't tell you but,,,,,we do,,,
The dealer checked my serial number and to outstanding recalls on it, they already replaced it once.
Does anybody have the direct number for BRP and a contact name?

How can you tell if your Spyder's DPS system is working or not? At 1st I didn't even think my 2012 RS had any kind of power steering, it feels like pure manual to me. When does DPS kick in and provide assistance? How can I tell it'd doing anything?

I checked the DPS marked fuse under my seat this weekend and it appears to be fine and I don't have any warning lights on when the Spyder is running.

What does DPS actually do and when does it do it? Thanks!

;Dynamic Power Steering.. Its an electric motor..
If you are turning the bars at a Standstill, It will feel heavy, Once your moving the steering should be light.
Some even feel its too light/sensitive at highway speeds...:dontknow:

It doesn't feel light to me at all at highway speeds. I guess I'll go get a dealership to check it, since it's still under factory warranty.

By all means have it checked out, or better yet ride a demo and compare. Please understand that DPS means Dynamic Power Steering. That means it changes under different conditions. The response is based on speed, engine rpm, steering torque, and steering angle. It also is dependent on battery voltage. Basically it works harder at low speeds or when greater steering input (torque) is sensed, and is virtually dormant at highway speeds on gentle curves.

Mine is an '09 and supposedly had the correction before I purchased it in '10. About a month ago, I got the "check DPS" message and the engine light. I hauled it to East TN ATV and they've had it ever since. They suspected a sensor and replaced that. Their computer said everything was fine, the bike, on the other hand, did not. The lights were still coming on. The tech talked to BRP for about two hours and they decided to send yet another sensor. So, we'll see what happens this week.

Of course, this would happen during the only few weeks this entire summer that it hasn't rained every stinkin' day! :banghead:
