• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Don't get me wrong. I do think its a serious problem. But we all know there is a problem. All I seem to read is the same thing over and over again and that is "beating a dead horse"
 
Trying to keep my bike from locking up the steering and veering into oncoming traffic last week as I tried to get home was an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. There were no road shoulders or any places to pull over.
Both BRP and my dealer were on the phone with me immediately after this happened. The dealer had it on several test rides until they could make the steering fail consistently. BRP in particular was very concerned, apologetic, answered all my questions, and assured me they will do whatever it takes to make it right. The bike is waiting on a new power steering unit. Other than a little patience needed on my part, I think the problem is being addressed correctly. I don't like the fact my bike is broken but all parties have gone the extra mile to get it back on the road asap. Dead horse or not, I can't ask for any better handling of getting things resolved.

I still dont have mine back, and as far as I know there is no plan to replace the dps unit. BRP told my dealer to just reset the "zero" on the steering position.

Mostly because the whole reason we got the Spyder was that my wife felt safer on the Spyder than she did riding two up on my other bikes. With all the Spyders electronic wizardry and just being plain more comfortable for her she has been really excited to ride. But I've been hesitant to take her on long rides because of the steering issue. Mine isnt scrolling anything across but its obvious somethign is happening.

Its very reassuring to hear that your issue got taken care of. I honestly dont care if they have to replace every single sensor on the bike as long as it rides as smooth as that demo bike we rode during the BRP weekend. :2thumbs:

Well at least you found out that you had a problem after 3 days and that would bum anyone out. Mine was always hard to steer. Before I bought it, it was a demo and had about 260 miles on it.

One thing I can honestly say is that you looked into other's problems with their steering on this board and realized what was happing to your Spyder, you knew there was a problem.

I bought mine in March 2009 and it was always hard to steer. Like I said, not knowing I thought it was normal, until I had the recall done and got that messege. I knew than something wasn't right and at least the dealerships and BRP are working along with the owners, to get the problem resolved.

Hopefully mine is fixed (Knock on Wood) But, with wear and tear on any part, will it happen again? I can't answer that and like I told Carlo, I know with any new machine, that the bugs have to be worked out and didn't care how long it would be sitting at the dealership, waiting for this part. As long as it was fixed and safe to ride again.

Believe me when you get it back, you'll notice a big change and be happy that you took it in right away. Than you can go on some long rides and have some fun. Honestly, since I got back into motorcycles after more than 30 years out of it, I'm having a blast with this Spyder.:ohyea:

So far I am impressed with BRP's responsiveness. I bought a 2007 Ducati 1098 when that redesign took place. It was a new motor, new everything and it had bugs. First day on my ride home it stalled and barely started back up. On several other occassions it stalled and wouldnt start. Ducati USA was not nearly as responsive as BRP has been so far. For that reason I sold the Ducati and will never buy a Ducati product again.

I took my manual 2009 to the dealer today and from what I know so far they plan on replacing the DPS. I have full confidence in the dealership, they have a great reputation and again so far BRP is being very responsive. I hope through our experiences they figure out what the root cause it and fix it widescale.:D

Really we all know the problem? I just bought mine Sat and "THESE" posts are the type of posts that let me know what I was experiencing wasnt just me getting used to the machine. "THESE" posts are the type of posts that clue'd me in that I might have a problem I should have the dealer look at.

If "THESE" posts potentially save someone from a major accident because they decide to get theirs looked at before it becomes a major problem causing a major accident because they read them.... Then there is nothing wrong with them. Like others have said, just dont read them its that simple really.....
