• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Downloading routes from to Garmin

Recently our laptop died. We were just learning to d/l our routes from the Garmin to our laptop to carry with us to download the routes into the garmin while traveling.
So. we are looking at getting a new laptop.
Can anyone recommend one of the newer ones to use that can handle loading routes into it?

Any Windows 10 with a USB socket should do. If you intend to install your detailed maps into BaseCamp though it uses quite a lot of memory. I use a Windows Surface as it's easy to pack but don't install the detailed maps. Just plug in the Garmin and they appear. MAC computers don't seem to work as well.

The Surface books were designed for this kind of thing, also Lenovo has some very tough units and they are all professional grade.
