I have been working on a friend's 2012 RTL and finally hope I have him going for the summer! But he came to me and asked me some questions some I answered one I couldn't, I done a search above and taken my bike out and played around with it and compared it to his, and it just made me scratch my head a little more!
After talking with him, he's asking about shifting issues he thinks he's having, as it works out, he's been short shifting his bike and I tried to explain it to him where he should shift up! He states that it is shifting a lot different than it used to, so I took it for a ride and was watching the RPMs on the back shift, and it's back shifting around 3100 or so, where mine seems to be shifting at around 2900. It shifts fine up as it should, I like up shifting above 4500-5500+. So, my question to the group, what should be the range of RPMs at normal back shift by the bike only, no input? Dose what I told you seem within the range of normal of operation, or is he having the first stage of clutch issues?
