• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

a good nights sleep. through out most of my life i lived on 4 hrs a night, but as i am getting older that has dropped down. i can be dead tired and get one hour sleep and be up for the rest of the night. i don't take sleeping pills because of all the other medication i take. so if you have a secret to a good nights sleep please let me know

Wish I could help John, but I'm at that 4-5 hour stage myself :gaah: so I know what you're dealing with (sorta)

The ONLY problem that i've found with it...
Figuring out exactly where I am; when I wake up!
:roflblack:

John,
Seriously... You've got to get your brain to shut down for the night... Mental relaxation techniques, BORING T.V. shows, even the "Cup of Warm Milk" can help.
If your brain needs to keep spinning; give it something to chew on, that is unimportant! By that; I mean that there are no consequences of any significance!
Me? I'll plan a ride out through the Catskills in my head...

Yeah, four to five here too. Doc told me to turn off the tv and computer at least two hours before going to bed. I don't do warm milk. When I'm hurting, which is most of the time, I take two Advil PM. They seem to help. However, two fingers of Cap'n Morgan dark Spiced Rum sounds like a good alternative. Now when I say two fingers do this...take the middle two fingers and fold them back to the palm. That leaves the index and little finger out. That's my idea of two fingers. :roflblack:

I don't normally have this problem, but when it happens, two table spoons of honey with a cup of tea help me get back to sleep.

I suffered with insomnia most of my life, on and off after changed from physical work (carpenter) to a desk job (manager). Even the slightest thing on my mind would make sleep difficult. Over the years I regimented myself to overcome this:

  1. No caffeine of any kind after 6PM
  2. Go to bed at the same time every night (10:00 works for me)
  3. Don't sleep longer than 7 1/2 hours
  4. Turn on a white noise machine, I like the sound of pouring rain. This masks other noises and the steady rhythm lulls me to sleep quickly
  5. Keep the room cool
  6. No stimulation right before bed time, I watch about 1 hour of tv in the family room, then I brush my teeth, take my meds then get into bed and turn on a documentary. It takes me about 10 minutes to feel the cobwebs starting to form, on goes the sound machine, off goes the light and I am asleep in minutes.

If for any reason I do have a bad night I just go with the flow knowing that I will sleep even better the next night. My job requires a lot of math and concentration (estimator, project manager in construction). If I am not well rested I could make costly mistakes so its very important that I do get a good nights sleep.

well i just got my blood results from my doctor in the mail with a note saying i need to raise mt thyroid meds because my thyroid readings are twice what they consider high on the report, one of the symptoms is hard time sleeping. i am just wondering when all the problems will end

i am just wondering when all the problems will end
They'll all end... When you're DEAD!
So just learn to let go... :D nojoke

John,
What I see in here; tells me that you're a "worrier"
Stuff probably gets under your skin, and just drives you NUTZ... :yikes:

Find a way to shake all of that out of your head before it hits the pillow, and you'l be fine!
