• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

"Don't touch my spyder" sticker?

:welcome: and :congrats:on the ryde.

You will get a lot of people who will ask questions simply because the :spyder2: is so unique.

I have never seen anyone try to get on my :spyder2: without permission. I would probably react in a negative manner since I think that is about as rude as one can get. It's the same as climbing into someones car to check it out.

Price discussions: it depends on the conversation. I usually start with asking them how much they think it may have cost. If they are really interested, I quote them MSRP. If they are being nosey, I quote them a range.

Holy crap!

I can't believe some kid and his father would do that! That is absolutely incredible. I'm not sure I would have been able to let that one slide.

I just tell people they start at around $17,000 and are up to $31,000 depending on what model that you choose.

On a trip last summer while passing through Yellowstone I met a group of people from Bejing while eating my lunch. They saw my RT-s and were all excited about it. One girl spoke a little English and asked if they could photograph it. They each took a picture of themselves on the trike with me and then each had their photo taken with the sitting on the trike. They had the time of their life. I think they had more fun with the Spyder than watching old faithful.

Ummmm, that wouldn't work well with his position as a Therapy Dog for kids & seniors

You've got to teach Teddy to growl when small children approach your Spyder... :sour:

 Nice thought, but if that was the case, he'd never stop growling, even when doing 80 down the highway:roflblack:

:bowdown:Thankfully, we just got the seat replaced under Warranty:bowdown:

Holy crap - I would not be able to sleep til I got that fixed .

Sorry for the ignorant people out there brother !

Thank you for all the replies!

Thanks to everyone who posted with links and pictures of stickers. I will definitely be getting one or more of these, and possibly a cover also.

:yikes:CyncySpyder - how upsetting to have that happen to your bike! I know I would be severely traumatized if that were to happen. Say hi to Teddy for me. I'm sure he's quite a rock star in your town on the "Red Sled" . I hope to one day put on as many miles as he (and you) probably have.

I'm glad the discussion evolved to talking about people asking about the price. I've been amazed how many people so far have asked this!

I just say "13 to 30 depending on model, options and dealer"
:2thumbs:

I think this is the type of stock answer I will use, adjusted to our "slightly" higher Canadian prices, of course. If they quiz me further on what I paid specifically, I think silence says it all!

Thanks to all for the warm welcomes. I'm really feeling like part of the group, separated only by distance, joined by a common love of our "Rydes".

Cheers!

Got a photo of the tourists taking photos on one of my first rides.

We get asked the money question all the time. My husband is very quick to spill his guts and tell our whole story where I like to give a range about the RS and RT. I personally don't offer to let people sit on the roadster but my husband did at a bike show. When I called him on it he said "well they are just kids". He didn't think about the damage they could do. I noticed he didn't offer to let them sit on his Harley.....oh wait! they didn't ask to.

I just wonder though if people really would stay 'off' once they read the sticker or if they would be even bigger smart a$$es and mess with your Spyder just to be jerks b/c of the sign...Has anyone actually witnessed someone staying off because of the sticker?

Yes, this was a major problem for me when I was at the Spyder tent in Daytona and having that card there cut it down by 95% easy. Before people though it was a demo Spyder and they would just sit on it.
