• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dont Hold it Against Me, I got A Yamaha Yesterday

Earlier I bought a 25 ton log splitter, new larger Stihl chain saw, firewood rack, fireplace toolset, and extended my firepit concrete pad another 6 feet to fit the new stuff.

We had around 10 inches of rain here but just a couple hundred miles northwest they had Ice and are still without power.

A couple of years ago we had an epic Ice storm and were caught totally unprepared. I went looking for a generator and they were all gone. I did find one small one that got us by till power was restored about a week later.

Wise move!
I lost power several times a year, so I looked to buy a generator. I found one used from a fellow who lost power about every other month, he bought this generator and had never lost power after he bought it.
I bought it, spent the money to wire it into the house, and then didn't lose power for the next 4.5 years. I was beginning to think it was a good luck generator, then we lost power for about 16 hours last month.
Man is it nice to have it and be prepared.:thumbup:

Here is the latest thing from Yamaha that I want.

I could have got a much larger one at half the price at Harbor freight but instead got this inverter. It is small in size but at 2800 watts can do the job backing up a fridge, heater blower, tv, a few lights, chargers ...
It is also small enough to use it as a tailgate option for work and play.

Yes, one of the advantages of the Yamaha is it comes with a fuel shut off. I turn it off and let the engine run till it runs out. The dealer filled up the tank and added some fuel stabilizer for me.

Let it be said....

You are well prepared for the winter season..:2thumbs: mine are manual...treadmill generator, an axe and wedge and a hand saw...:roflblack::roflblack: but then you should suffer our winters.....:roflblack::roflblack:

Love our Honda, but still hate ethanol. Another lesson learned, always buy bigger than you think you need.

Generators are good to have in the event of a power outage. Good idea to get your home electrics wired ASAP so that you can use the generator when needed.

Generator needs a circuit that will bypass incoming electricity from the grid and will just power your home. You then have to pick and choose which circuits of your home you power up (depending on watts of the generator). If you do not bypass, you are sending power out to the grid. That could cause harm to those working on or coming into contact with downed power lines.

I got one of those Yamahas a number of years ago for my camper. It needs servicing as I can't get it to start. Dummy me left some gas in it. I wanted to see how quiet it was? Not too bad.
It was lighter than the Honda 3000 and put out more power. I liked the design as I can cable lock it to something so it won't run away.

I do have a a 21K Genrac generator for the house that runs off a propane tank. Up here it can be a bright sunny day and the power goes out? It did run for six hours this past month. According to the GA power website, there was an car accident South of me. Guess they took out a power pole?
My new place to me is all electric so it's something I invested in in case the power goes out in the winter or bad weather.

After 10 days of no power, thanks to Sandy, there is now a
genny in my toy chest.

I watched a few videos on hooking up to the panel. They are basically saying to put safeguards making it impossible to hook it up without shutting off the main breaker. Once the main is off you can wire in to any available 220 spot. My house came with a plug in the garage going to a 50 amp breaker. If that is why it was there, they did it wrong. Or it could have been a welder plug. It would be easy to just get a wire and plug to wire it in if needed.
