• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dog Gone

We headed out for our 4 day trip to Montrose Co.with our friends Temple Riders Association. Cynthia and I planned on meeting up with them at the UT 96/US6 junction. We wanted to ride over the mountain on the Scofield side as we had already done the Huntington side. As we came out of the canyon and headed towards Scofield there were a lot of people in that semi Ghost town for 4th of July. While passing a large usually empty field, now full of camper, trailers and motorhomes a large dog came running out and was promptly center punched by Charlotte then run over with her left wheel. No more dog.It was some kind of large short hair hunting dog about 50 lbs. I am impressed with the toughness of the Spyders plastic. There is a crack in the left panel under the left driving light a paint divot out of the frunk lid,a broken left chrome "tooth" and a broken left front fender caused by coming down on the dog with the back of the fender. It broke the cast in mount so the fender wiggled around a lot. I went back home (about an hour) got some JB weld and glued the mount back on and packed the fender and headed to Montrose with open wheel. Of course we missed out friends but did catch up with them that night in Montrose. We had a bit of a tale to tell, but all was well. Remounted the fender Sunday after church and it worked great.

When we got back I called Dairyland and gave them the info and they are proceeding with the claim. I have a $250 deductible so it will be interesting to see what the total claim is. Interestingly on the way to High Adventure Power Sports in Salt Lake City to get the estimate and repairs done, the fender broke loose. The JB Weld had held just long enough.

Sorry no pictures,I was too scared to take any and so was Cynthia.

 Sorry to hear that this happened...
Glad to hear that the damage is relatively minor, and that the dog didn't suffer too much...

Glad to hear you are all right.

Similar happened to me a couple years ago. Dog came up out of the ditch, I am going 55 +, and a big truck is approaching me in the oncoming lane. Seconds to decide, no place to go but hang on and hit the dog. I hit the dog full on, it flew over the :ani29: and was killed. Nobody stopped to see if either of us were okay.

The :spyder2: had about $2K in damage, but was fixed like new within a week. Still driving it, with no ill effects from the crash. No hassles from the insurance company, and no raise in premiums for the incident.

Spyder has been in the shop almost 3 weeks, now waiting on parts for the damage repair. Dairyland was great, they looked at it and accepted High Adventure's estimate and cut them a check. All parts are in except the hood,so hopefully they can go pretty fast once everything is in.

Sorry to hear about the mishap and glad Cynthia's okay. Is Charlotte what you call one of the bikes?

Wow...!!

Glad you fared so well. Does put a bit of a dampner on the start of the trip..:banghead: hope the rest went well...

 Waiting on parts: that's the "fly in every ointment"! :gaah:

Here's to hoping that they get the parts to your dealership SOON!

The up side is I bought a used XM radio off of ebay thanks to finless and since I have to have the ENT wiring harness installed and the dealership has one and is willing to give me a deal on it,I will have them install it and the xm radio. Apparently this is a remove the rear end operation and I don't feel like getting into that in the August heat in Utah

Utah Pete Yes Cynthia was not on the Spyder when I totaled the dog. She doesn't do long distance since the accident in 2011. She was following in the car. And yes my Spyder's name is Charlotte.

Do I know you from somewhere else?
