We headed out for our 4 day trip to Montrose Co.with our friends Temple Riders Association. Cynthia and I planned on meeting up with them at the UT 96/US6 junction. We wanted to ride over the mountain on the Scofield side as we had already done the Huntington side. As we came out of the canyon and headed towards Scofield there were a lot of people in that semi Ghost town for 4th of July. While passing a large usually empty field, now full of camper, trailers and motorhomes a large dog came running out and was promptly center punched by Charlotte then run over with her left wheel. No more dog.It was some kind of large short hair hunting dog about 50 lbs. I am impressed with the toughness of the Spyders plastic. There is a crack in the left panel under the left driving light a paint divot out of the frunk lid,a broken left chrome "tooth" and a broken left front fender caused by coming down on the dog with the back of the fender. It broke the cast in mount so the fender wiggled around a lot. I went back home (about an hour) got some JB weld and glued the mount back on and packed the fender and headed to Montrose with open wheel. Of course we missed out friends but did catch up with them that night in Montrose. We had a bit of a tale to tell, but all was well. Remounted the fender Sunday after church and it worked great.
When we got back I called Dairyland and gave them the info and they are proceeding with the claim. I have a $250 deductible so it will be interesting to see what the total claim is. Interestingly on the way to High Adventure Power Sports in Salt Lake City to get the estimate and repairs done, the fender broke loose. The JB Weld had held just long enough.
Sorry no pictures,I was too scared to take any and so was Cynthia.
