Does Installing 12V Cell Phone/GPS Docking Station with USB Ports need longer bolts?

Just bought a 2024 RT Limited

When installing the 12V Cell Phone/GPS Docking Station with Dual USB Charge Ports for the Can-Am Spyder RT (2020+) from SlingMods and using the additional handlebar risers, do you need longer bolts than those that come with the mounting plate?

Yes, you need longer bolts, and they come as part of the kit. For some reason, I have a vague recollection that I needed longer bolts again when I added my XT mount to the plate on my ‘21 RT. But it was so long ago that I can’t recollect if that was indeed the case (Oldtimers issue;) ). I have only mentioned this as it would be worthwhile checking, just in case.

I watched the video before and again. The bolts that come are used with the two extension for the plate and not for the additional 2" risers added by the handle bar extension. Thus I emailed Slingmods asked asked the same question.

I have the Docking Station which came with longer bolts as mentioned. Thought about adding a riser but like you have wondered about the bolts and whether I would have to find them on my own. Please let us know what you hear from Slingmods.

PDXRTL - Slingmods said buy your own bolts, those that are supplied will not fit both mods. Go to your local hardware store! They did not say what size would work!

Lamonster also sell these Frogman. It is where I bought mine. It would be worthwhile giving them a call and discussing your issues with them. It is highly possibly they will have the bolts you’ll need with the docking station. You may be able to buy everything from one place then.

Peteoz - Thanks for your feedback, I'll check. I think Lamonster's dock has the ability to rotate the two power ports to different locations? What do you run out of your 12V port?

Don't over think this, you have a docking system, your bolts aren't long enough, take one to the hardware store and go to the bolt bin, they usually have a thread gauge there to check the thread and pitch, once you have that go to the stainless bolt bin and get the right length bolt!:dontknow: Good luck!!

I've talked with Lamonster and they sell both the riser and docking station. When you buy their 2" riser, it asks if you are mounting a docking station, and if you are, it adds long bolts. Slingmods has a bolt kit for the same need, the person who answered my email was ignorant of that.

Just installed Slingmods docking station with USB and 12V outlets. Will run power to 5 slot fuse box above the battery. My XT2 has been mounted and running off the USB in glove box for now. Very good construction and GPS set below console with easy access. Waiting for my handlebar riser. then it will be closer and my seating position will be more relaxed.
