Does anyone use this oil in their spyder ?

Time for more oil discussion....

These are 2 CASTROL motorcycle oils that both meet BRP specs (other than being 10w40) and are widely available at reasonable prices. They both omit the SM spec that is a problem for wet clutches. The Synthetic sells for $8.99 at Advance Auto and the blend sells for 5.99 at Cycle Gear. The Synthetic is also available in 5w40 but hard to find.

Castrol refuses to disclose what % synthetic the Actevo contains, and it is not clear how this compares to BRP's synthetic blend.

Wouldnt these be good for use in the Rotax? Could you even consider mixing them to get a little more synthetic in the blend ?

Sure look like better alternatives than paying $12.95 a qt at a dealer.

I would not mix them. If you want a syn-blend, use what they sell. BRP specifies either syn-blend or full synthetic. Castrol is good oil, and rumor has it that the BRP brand is Castrol in disguise.

Just had a new engine fitted at 10000 km on my se5 rs and was using this oil but since then the dealer said only use summer grade brp oil as it flows better or something like that. My self i like castrol but have decided to use gen oil and filters only from now on cheap insurance when the warranty runs out.

I have also heard that Mobile 1 full synthetic ( I know all Mobile 1's are full synthetic) with a rating of SL works well too.

Gen is short for genuine oil from brp, and the problem was severe vibration thur the engine and drive belt, so after they replaced the se5 clutch and other things which did not fix it brp kindly fitted a complete new engine:clap: the spyder has never been so nice to ride.

Doesn't sound like engine oil failure, you had other problems...

Fine for your car, but not for the Spyder if it includes the "SM" rating!
