• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Does anyone use Fuel Additive in their Spyder? Is it safe?

does anyone use Fuel Additive in their Spyder ??? I use Sea Foam in most everything I drive and Ride.... but just wondering if its safe in a Spyder ?? as in it not good for the Fuel Pump or Fuel Injectors any Ideas ???

I use a fuel stabilizer in my spyder for the winter lay up/hibernation.( Oct. to April) Fill the gas tank with gas, then add a fuel stabilizer. I have been doing since 2012.

In the spring spyder starts up. My spyder is on a battery tender from Oct. to April.

Sea Foam says to use 1 Oz. per 1 Gal. of Gas. so my Spyder holds little over 6 Gal. it says. ... i might start with a couple of Oz. per tank first. I sure thank all you folks for your help and advice . Thank You.

For years, I use Yamalube Fuel Med RX in every tankful unless traveling and burning fuel, vs typical around town riding. I buy the small bottles and keep several in the frunk. One bottle treats 5 gallons of fuel.

Is that like Yamaha motor cycle gas treatment?? I never heard of it, just asking. Do you use it now in your Spyder?? And if so, does it run well with it??

Yes, it is Yamaha fuel treatment. Note that it is Fuel Med RX and not Engine Med RX.
I use Fuel Med RX in every tank of fuel unless traveling and burning fuel quickly. The Spyder runs fine with it, actually possibly better than non treated since the Fuel Med RX contends with phase separation, retains octane, and lessens possibility of corrosion.

I have posted before how I informally tested many products including Sea Foam, Star Tron, Stabil and more. The tests involved the fuel used in my lawnmower. Each of the previously mentioned products, except Yamalube, allowed the alcohol in the fuel to absorb moisture, while not preventing corrosion inside the carb. This was done years ago. In the mower I no longer run fuel with added alcohol. The Spyder though runs on 93 octane Chevron typically or other well known fuel brand high test plus Yamalube.

I've used Techron in my motorcycles in the past with good results, but not in my 20 RTL yet. Not sure it's a good idea, but I might give it a try one of these days.

Interesting video from Fortnine. It does involve Canadian ethanol gas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chsGBhB5g7o&t=25s

Enjoyed watching the video you linked. Mimicked my informal tests on the mower.

Years ago, this was the video that had me start using Yamalube Fuel Med RX. In the video the product was called by its earlier name. Living in SoFlo we have a lot of humidity. My primary reason for using Yamalube was to lessen corrosion concerns.

well, what I got of the first video is Sta Bil is the better of that collection ... anybody get a different idea ???

Remember.. The video examples were used with 10% ethanol gas. I store with 100% gas, so I continue with Seafoam. It would sway me to Stabil if 10% ethanol was my only option for storage..

I don't know where I could buy 100% Gas around here anyway . but I have used Seafoam for years in everything I own . . so I guess I'll just stay with it , and besides , I already got several cans of it in my Garage.

Other than when I lived in South Texas in the ‘80’s and rode year round, I have put away whatever motorcycle(s) I’ve owned for the winter with Stabil added to the gas tank. Then I hook up the Battery Tender. Never had a problem starting up in the Spring, either with the gas in the tank or the battery. I plan to do the same with my 2021 Spyder this winter.

When I lived in Alaska, we had winter layup. I would add stabil to all the bikes, and lawnmower. Left them un-run and on the tender usually from late October until late March/ early April...depending on the melting ice. All would start in the spring on the first try.

Never used boosters during the regular riding season.

Now that I am in Arkansas, we ride year around and use no gas additives. I get good performance from 87 octane with ethanol (10%). Been using 87 octane since 2015 or so. Many miles, no engine breakdowns, etc. The computer system on the bikes takes care of the technical aspects of "octane," IMO...
