There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Do you have this Luggage Rack?

i have been doing my own mods

i have been doing my own mods, this one is another mod to add to my list, till i get the trailer then one will go on the tongue of the trailer. i dont plan to carry much weight so the third light should show most of the time. i will be doing most of the shopping and camping driving during the daylight hours anyway.

Man that trailer is nice!

Please do a DIY thread in the DIY forum and tell us all how you made that.

Show Chrome Racks

I ordered my rack from BigBike parts in May. I was contacted today that it will be shipped to me next week. I'm bummed because we leave on vacation this Saturday. I was hoping I would have it by then.

We saw the new Big Bike Parts Luggage Rack installed on their RT last February at the dealer show. It looks great and the price is even better. I looked it over pretty well.
We ordered a lot of them back then because we knew there would be a high demand. We were expecting them a lot sooner then this and so was Big Bike Parts.
This part is brand new and should be in to Show Chrome any day, they were expecting them in late last week but did not get them in. This is not a back ordered part, it is brand new and has not been released yet. We are a factory direct dealer and have a rep there. Scott at Big Bike Parts is going to call us immediately when they come in, we will have them within two days of then. We have been getting all kinds of emails and calls stating Big Bike Parts told them they were in, not sure where it came from but Big Bike Parts states that they haven't told anyone that because they are not in. We will be the first that these are shipped out to, they do realize at Show Chrome that a lot of people are waiting, they are getting a lot of calls also.
A few people posted on different sites that they received theirs already or were told they had been shipped from certain dealers which is incorrect. As soon as we get them our customers will start getting emails that theirs have been shipped. If you really want one immediately, you may want to put your name on one. There is extremely high demand for these and only so many are coming in on the first run. We have a very long list of people patiently waiting right now. There is a second shipment coming into Show Chrome in a few weeks also.

I personally installed the Custom World Rack / Wing on ours. It looks great and quite strong because of how it mounts. We actually had the dog up there as you can see from the picture below a couple of weeks ago for about 1000 miles. His carrier is usually on the seat behind Teresa but we rode two up so he had to go up.

I had ordered this from "the other guys" in April. After 3 or 4 un answered emails ref timing, I requested a refund and they did. Still never heard except from the bank.
I ordered one from you folks and the email said what you have above. I appreciate supplier problems, but who ever is supplying this to you folks has really screwed up a lot of clients. There is nothing in the adds that state or refer to the fact you've never had any in stock or had problems. Bank the money, then tell the ordering party, hey.we don't actually have any, but the rumour is they will be in on whatever date.
I've already done the trip I originally wanted it for, so take your time (not really). I do give you credit for Giving us the word, the Other guys are hiding in the bushes, not communicating at all.

I am very interested in this rack, when it becomes available. I just want a place to carry lighter bulky items (rain gear, bike cover, etc). However, I do have some concerns. I have heard that over time, the rack may cause cracking of the trunk lid. I've seen this on some Goldwings. Anyone have the same concerns?

I have the Diamond R rack also, it is a little pricey but i like the looks of it and it was easy to install.
mtbear;)

trunk rack & antenna

Hello MrFats,

I see your antenna doesn't look like the one on my 2014 RT. If you install the Diamond R rack, do you have to change out the antenna ?

I have the Diamond R Trunk Rack. An advantage to their rack is that it will not block those that have the 3rd brake light up high on the trunk. Diamond R is a sponsor on Spyderlovers too. They come in black powder coated or chrome. It's always nice to have options...

YES!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking about purchasing this luggage rack for my RT. I really like the looks of it and was just wondering if anyone else had installed it and what they thought? Photos on your bike would be great if you have them. View attachment 71945

I purchased that same unit from Big Bike Parts almost 1 1/2 years ago. It is very easy to install and works great. It is made quite well and the welds are clean and neat.
The only drawback is the trunk lift mechanism is not quite strong enough to hold the trunk lid up while putting things so you have to manually hold the lid up. I have been planning on adding a second lift cylinder but have not yet.

I had that rack for my 2010, and was going to add it to my 2014. I decided not to - I thought it was too big, and overpowered the lines of the bike.

I like the looks of the luggage racks. Gives a little more chrome to the :spyder2:. I am usually able to store whatever I need in the compartments provided--but would consider one just for the looks.

Better plan on waiting to get the rack, took about a month.
Very easy to mount and looks great on the bike.
Weight is too much for the ram so be prepared for that
The cover won't fit so you have to get a different cover.
And the antenna has to be changed out.
But having the rack is worth it for the option of being able to carry another bag.

One can get the large round washers with the star pattern in the middle and this helps a lot, also use a large fender washer or preferably the biggest 1/8 inch aluminum backing plate on the inside of the lid and this should stop any cracks from developing.

My cover fits just fine, maybe a little more snug but fits with no problems and I am in an area that I put the cover on every night.

I did not have to do anything to my antenna at all. The rack fits just fine & is centered on the rear trunk lid.

You are absolutely correct in the weight being to much for the ram though and I think a second one will solve that little dilemma.

I built my own and added a $16.00 light from ebay. Don't plan on carrying anything heavy on it.

Rack

I put one on my RT in Sept to go to Las Vegas. Worked very well for small gym bag.
Don't have pic. Watch where U drill holes....check inside of lid before U drill.
