• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

do you ever feel like your spyder is not the same day to day?

it seems my spyder is stronger and pulls better on certain days and not so good the next. and today was the not so good day. it spluttered and hesitated quite a bit in straight line acceleration. yesterday it pulled much better without much hesitation at gear change.
i dont know what it is but its just acting different day to day.:dontknow:

I've got 12,000 miles on my Spyder over the past 12 mo. and have had some days when it just didn't seem to be running quite right. I think some of this could be caused by poor gasoline. I bought some additive but can't remember the name - added a small amount at each fuel up and it seemed to help.

At about 10,500 miles I changed the plugs - also made quite a difference. The original plugs looked OK but certainly showed some wear.

I think I am often too sensitive about how it 'seems to feel', and when I notice any miss or weak spot, I become much more sensitive.

Good luck.

Try a tank or two of high test, the system may just need a clean out.
Regular gas does not have detergents, therefore you can get nasty sticky
accumulation in the fuel system. I'm not saying run high test all the time,
but once in a while can help. Plus now that high test is around $2.00 per
gallon, it won't hurt as bad to run a tank or two through the Spyder.

Just an idea.

From time to time I've had that impression. But since I found the bad plug wire I'm wondering if that might of had something to do with some of my issues.

You can also add a little fuel additive - sea foam - good fuel system and crankcase cleaner.

nail it once in a while .... mine seems to run the same i run mid grade all the time .... i let it warm up ..... but rain ....sun...cold ...or hot it seems to run the same all the time...:coffee: i was also told by my dealer not to just start it and shut it down to let people hear it or for what ever reason that could cause plug damage ... not an expert on this but thats what they said

I remember seeing someone posting here about iginition system arcing from damaged insulation. That might cause misfiring and change the performance. Gotta go thru the bike with a fine tooth comb and see what you can find.

i tried premium today. filled both times with premium but spyder acting pretty much same except back-fired less. on one fill, i restarted spyder and put in 1st gear and gave a little gas and back-fired and engine cut off. my first thought was this is end of the road for my spyder:opps:
i had few issues with my spyder and :spyder2: spent alot of time in shop so i may be a bit sensitive about whats going on with spyder:p after i restarted it took off with no problem but just another scare from the thing that gives me so much pleasure.
not only spyder acts little different day to day but hindles sometimes sounds a "dry" than after a while i get that deeper tone. i am thinking about getting evoluzione's o2 sensor.

The O2 sensor mod from Evoluzione should help your Spyder quit backfiring and sputtering if those things are caused by the Spyder running too lean. I don't know how many miles you have on your Spyder but the exhaust gaskets have been known to break down in as little as a few thousand miles. Once that happens, your Spyder will run a little rougher and backfire a lot more often. Also, depending on how many miles you had on the Spyder before you put on the Hindle, you might get a quick engine improvement by disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes or so to clear the computer of any remaining old data from the stock pipe and let it start from scratch with the Hindle.
