• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Do we have a reputable dealer thread/list?

I apologize if there is one, but was thinking if there isn't, perhaps it would be a good idea to list good dealers by state. May help someone looking to buy have much less headaches!

Dumb idea!

Who would edit such a list? It would quickly become a gripe list as opposed to a good dealer list.
One person's good dealer may be anothers terrible one... all depending on personal experience. I'm all for sharing experiences but I don't think such a list is a good idea. Let's leave it to BRP to maintain the platinum dealer list on their site but even then, I have my doubts about what 'platinum' really means.

If you click on your state forum, there is a sticky with all the dealers in that state at the top of the page.

As for the dealer being good? Ask for recommendations...

BAD DEALER

DEALER FROM "HELL", LAND AIR ESSEX JCT. VERMONT.....Mike,......... I would let my Spyder rot before I would let them touch it again and I obviously don't care who knows this.....:yikes:

I recently opened a new thread on the MD forum, exactly for this purpose, hoping to just get a dialogue started.

No responses as yet.

You have one response now. Don't think your question was answered though.

Hope someone will chime in with some info for you.

Being a 'platinum' dealer means they are the tallest midget.

To say someone's idea is a "dumb idea" sounds pretty closed minded and rude. According to your response its "dumb" even though you don't know whether it would work or not. There could be ways to make it work just fine even if you don't like the idea. Come on, give the guy a break and treat him the way you would want to be treated if you had an idea. Afterall, this site is supposedly for learning and sharing. Take care and God bless

Okay... I apologize.

I shared my opinion and gave some reasons for having it.

'dumb' was the first word that came to mind... I can think of several others but I guess I will refrain from posting them.

I think 'good dealer' may be a an oxymoron. They are good at selling bikes. Few seem to be good at servicing them. Scan the forum and you see post after post about mistakes, failures, and actual ripoffs. My bike has been in the shop for almost 2.5 months yet I consider them the best dealer in my area. At least they try and try and do the right thing. Complete competence is not something I can ask for where I live.

WE NEED TO ADMIT THAT THIS BIKE HAS A PROBLEM AND ITS THE DEALERS WHO CLAIM TO SERVICE THEM!

I read an awful lot of apologist posts that flame anyone who says this but I am going to say it anyway.

Wow, I didn't expect to get so many replies!! I just noticed that there are some dealers out there that people seem to warn people about, and others that people recommend. I do not really think it's a dumb idea, as there are a lot of horror stories out there. I know if I was looking at getting a Spyder, knowing a decent place to get one would be a big help.

I'm kind of in your camp. The question of dealer quality would surely be less important if the bike was less temperamental and servicing it was far more routine.
