Do raccoons like Spyders?

Every morning when I get in my car to drive to work, I say hi to my Spyder. I've kept her covered and a battery tender on her all winter long. This morning was no different. However when I got home from work this evening I notice that there was a lot of green foam on the floor and the cover was off the front of the Spyder. Turns out that a raccoon (we're calling him Chewy) got into the Ultimate seat and made him/herself a little nest. It probably didn't help that the temperature this morning was -21 below 0.

I'm hoping this is covered under our renter's insurance. I'll find out tomorrow. I'm also going to call Ultimate Seats to see if they can recover the seat or if I need to purchase a new one.

I think I'd be sending Chewy to a new home via .223. I checked with Ultimate about recovering a seat I found. They said since it was glued on they couldn't or wouldn't do it and I would need to purchase a new one.

i had mice living under the hood of my Jag.... they chewed the insulation under the hood to make a nest from... it's fiberglass, so i hope the little rodents itched like crazy.... two mouse traps later and new insulation around the garage door and i have no more problems....

in your case, u'll need the .22 trap... bang..! ! !

We always worried about creatures eating or trying to enter our SeaDoos over the winter time, but fortunately in the 12 years we had them we never had an issue other than some stored up acorns in the foot wells. LOL

I've got a friend who traps so I think he'll come over and set one to see if we can't catch Chewy.

i think you should add Chewy's tail hanging off the back of the bike. perhaps any other raccoon would think twice before venturing any further.

a product called fly bait in a little bole of coke.they won't take more than two or three steps and that is where you will find them dead.be careful,it will kill ground hogs cats and dogs and other small creatures.I bought mine at the local feed mill.

we live in a rural area and store our vehicles in a barn, had the same problem with the rodents. long story short, I called penn state and asked what I could do , short of killing the rodent population. they suggested moth balls. we have used them for years and no more problems. just place a few around the wheels where they climb up and maybe a few in the frunk and trunk and you are good to go.

:agree: I have never had a problem with the Spyders or Sea Doos because I have a tight garage and door BUT I started putting about 4 small bowls of moth balls - 2 on each side of the garage door and one under each Spyder just to make sure.

I think a heated garage would be more of a problem?:dontknow:

Die you stripped bandits, die! Put an electric fencer around the bike , it keeps the pests away.

My dad hooked up a 12volt unit to the house main by accident (he was 75 at the time with the onset of Alzheimer's ) I was sitting on the back deck having coffee with dad when I seen a cat fly through the air as if he had been punted. When I looked at the fencer I seen that he had take the terminals that should go to a 12 source and wired a 120 plug to them. The cat survived amazingly enough but apparently 2 coons and a possum were not so lucky, I found their bodies up against the fence about 6' away. Apparently those old vintage 1970 were so simple by design it still worked fine that way. I recall it had a step up transformer and spring loaded set of points that bounced and send the pulse down the wire ever time the points came together.
