There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Display Reboots

MarkLawson

RT-S PE#0031
Today I started my 2010 RT after clearing the safety card screen. I finished gearing up and mounted the Spyder & noticed the safety card message was on the console again. The Spyder was still running. While on the way home, I saw the display go black, then reboot, first with the CanAm name & then the safety card message again. I saw no other symptoms. No change in running or sound system, etc. I pressed the Mode button & continue on my way.

This is the 4th console on this Spyder. The original kept defaulting to French. The second had the PPT button programming problem. The third, which was a 2011 model, had intermitted analog tach craziness, & now I'm about 15 months on the 4th.

Any thoughts?

Really? Seriously? This isn't the first of your posts like this...

A problem like this can involve far many variables... but I cannot help myself from asking if you are allowing water to get to your dash console -- like power spraying the console. Just wondering if it could be that simple. Certainly the question has to be asked.

Given the fact you have had four consoles... this allows for the possibility of inconsistent electrical power - much like a shorted-cord would make any electrical unit re-start (boot); or flicker. I would bet any of the consoles you replaced would work if their power-source were consistent.

Hopefully you have another option for a more reliable technician than who you have been using. No one is that unlucky to get four bad consoles in a row... just doesn't happen. The problem is occurring prior to the console.

you should not let water around your console, and never use a power warsher around your console.water and insterments dont like eachother,:yikes:

I've never power washed the console, so that is not the issue. For that matter, I haven't washed the Spyder conventionally since last year's SpyderFest. The first two replacements were due to known issues. The last replacement was the only one due to something unusual. I will dig into it and reseat the connections when I get a chance.

Thanks.

I've had mine reboot for no reason just like yours so if it was a once in awhile issues I would say don't worry about but seeing you've been though so many I'm thinking you may have a harness problem. :dontknow:

My 2010 RT started doing the same thing. Turned out to be the battery ground connection. Cleaned and tightened and all was good.

I will have to agree, my RT had this problem, unfortunately. It was corrected because of a faulty starter relay.:agree:

LAst night the display went off completely. Again, everything else seemed to be uneffected by it. While in a residentual area, I reached forward and turned off the ignition switch for about 1 second and then turned it back on. As expected, the engine quit while the ignition was off & recaught when turned back on. The display did not come back on, as I was hoping. This time, I also lost my audio system, which sucked. When I arrived at my destination, it sat for a couple of hours before I started it back up. At that time, everything, including the display, functioned normally, as best as I can tell. All worked all they way home.

I spoke with my dealer's Service Manager & was told he'd bring it up with BRP with the hope for some good will from them, as this is the 4th console and has only been in place around one year.

Mark, we had the same issue on Kris' 2010 RTS. It didn't go completly out but would reboot as you described. I kept it on a maintainer and had the battery and charging system checked on last service. All checked good. It hasn't rebooted since.

I put a new battery in a couple of months ago, so I doubt that is the problem.

My Service Manager called me yesterday & told me that a new display was ordered and installed. Even though the Spyder is more than a year out of warranty, BRP is covering the parts cost & the dealer will split the labor costs with me. I'm very satisfied with this arrangement. They wanted to keep it a couple of more days to test to see if they can get it to fail again. I'll pick it up Saturday.

Dealer changed my display today due to BLACK SCEEN. Fist lost analog tach then whole display. I am now on number 3. Almost made my 25,000 miles this time.
