Discolored Panel above exhaust - anyone else?

When I returned from SpyderQuest earlier this month I didn't clean my 2014 RT-Ltd for about a week. After finally getting it washed, I was drying it off and noticed the side panel on the exhaust side was discolored. To me it looks like heat from the exhaust may have caused this. It's right above the chrome heat shield and where it meets the saddlebag door. I have not tried any type of polish or other cleaning product on it to see if that would help. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Sorry the pic is upside down. I think it's because I'm a lefty and hold my iPad different than a righty. Tried rotating but didn't work still topsy-turvy.

kind of matte effect I see in the picture.

I haven't taken a close look at how things fit together back there; could a passenger have had a boot heel hitting it there? :dontknow::dontknow:

Before taking to dealer you might try a Mr. Clean magic sponge. I have found that the sponge will take off all manner of bugs, grease, tar, etc. that detergent and elbow grease won't.

I have another issue with the frunk release cable sticking so have to get to the dealer with both these issues under warranty.

It's not on the surface of the panel.

If you say it's not on the surface, I agree with OP who say take it to the dealer. Since you have another issue let 'em kill all the birds at once.

FWIW, I ride solo almost exclusively and my Spyder picks up road splat on the leading edges of the saddle bags and rear side panels. That's why I consider it worthwhile to use a good carnuba wax; it does provide some extra finish protection IMO.
