• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

dilemma

i ordered two emergency strobe lights for the bike http://www.powerflare.com/products/index.html in case of a emergency so people can see me. i was planning on putting a small piece of metal under the trunk cover so i could stick them on the trunk with the built in magnets under them. the magnets were not strong enough to do what i wanted to so than i ordered two very strong magnets on line to glue them under the lights so they will stick to the metal.

great idea, right, well the magnets just showed up by UPS and my dilemma is they are so strong i can't get them apart, i put them down on the table and everything metal on the table was sucked to them, including my open knife i used to open the box. i was standing when the knife came by at just the right height to make me a girl, lucky it missed. now i just hope i don't get dragged around if i ever have to use the lights. just my luck

Hi cuzn'

Re: they are so strong i can't get them apart

Try sliding them off of each other; pulling will not work.

i did get them apart by sliding them but they are sticking to everything, i can't believe how strong they are

Glad you got them unstuck.

i just put this on your armor suit post

trust me i can't believe how strong they are. they came with a 1/2 inch of plastic in between them so when i got the apart the one in my hand dropped and flew across the table and found the other one, now they are stuck together and i am exhausted trying to get them apart. they are called rare earth magnets, sure their rare, who can use them

John,
I think that I see your problem...
You're an iron-willed Man, with a magnetic personality!
This project was doomed from the start! :roflblack:

Just a Thought

If nothing else. Keep them in your trunk, or? Sounds like you could tow another spyder with them.

gave up trying to separate them tonight, tomorrow i go out to the shed and put them in a vice and try again

well i took a time out and ate, than watched some tv. i just went inside and held them sideways on the kitchen table and using 250 of my 300 pounds i got them apart.

Rare earth magnets are the strongest permanent magnet. And yes, extremely hard to get apart if put together. They'll also screw up the magnetic strips on credit cards, ID cards etc. And in some rare cases, have been known to effect certain medical devices. The only other magnet that is stronger is the neodymium and samarium-cobalt magnets. I put a small piece of rare earth magnet on a screwdriver shaft to hold a screw. Works great.

Careful..!!

have some of those and know what you are going through. Watch the vise cause they will shatter and fly all over the place sticking to anything metal. Keep them apart in some kind of container....keep them away from anything with a magnetic strip....but they are awesome and challenging...:2thumbs:

My dad had this u shaped magnet that weight in around 5 lbs. He always kept a piece of steel stuck to the ends. When I was little I would always try to get that steel off that magnet with little success. That magnet hangs above my work bench, and I smile every time I see it.
