• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Range Anxiety Be Damned - Rotopax installed!

Coming from two long-distance bikes that have ~7 gal. tanks and get excellent fuel mileage (easy 250+ mile range), the Ryker’s tank size and range made me a little nervous. Looking for a way to add some supplemental fuel should I need it, I found the Rotopax system that had several container sizes that looked appealing. Unfortunately, my Ryker Sport really had no ideal place to mount one... particularly since the PO had installed an Ultimate Seat on it. It's a nice seat with pillion space and the driver backrest, but I don’t carry a passenger, and the fold-down back rest was beginning to be a PITA getting on and off the machine.

A couple months ago, Slingmods put their Show Chrome Combat seat on sale with free shipping, so I bit the bullet and got one. It looks like a nicely made seat, very easily installed (with magnets, no less), and it fits my posterior perfectly. It also lowers me down to the point that the wind screen actually does some good and gets me out of the wind blast. No complaints what-so-ever. I quickly found out that an added benefit was that it opened up a spot behind the seat (and in front of the tail trunk) to mount one of the Rotopax gas containers. They offered free shipping a couple of weeks ago, so I picked up one of their 2 gal. (Gen 2) versions. After I got done with the steering update thingy, I installed the Rotopax.

My camping gear will sit nicely on top, and it has a large enough capacity to get me out of trouble when I’m out aimlessly wandering around out in the boonies of WV, long trips, or wherever.

Been there, done that on an RT. Note the square on the back in my avatar. Rotopax covered by helmet bag. May want to burp it at least once a day.

Yup. I've had range anxiety a few times on my Spyders. Especially on my past F3S with the 89t rear pulley. 80mph interstate trips sure sucked the gas down! :(

One thing I found out real quick was to NOT tighten down the handle snug per their instructions. Heat, especially what we’ve been seeing over the last few days, causes the container to “poof up” to where it’s nearly impossible to turn the handle over the locking bumps in the container’s top so it can be loosened and removed.

Haven’t seen the Sargent seats for a Ryker, but I did put one on my ’02 KLR a number of years ago. Heck of a lot better than the OEM seat that came on the bike. It’s flat and wide and gives you an initial impression of being too firm, but its shape evenly distributes the weight and shape of one’s backside to make long rides comfortable. If they made these, they should last awhile.

BRP makes fuel cans in 1, 3 and 5 gal US that fasten to the LinQ plate on a Ryker.
Just look under BRP snowmobile accessories.
Looks like the smaller ones are stackable or can have LinQ boxes mounted on top.
Hope this helps someone.
