• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Differences between 2014, 2015, and 2016 Spyder RT-S trikes?

It's nice to save eight seconds when you turn on your Spyder, but if turn it on twice per day, every day of the year, that's about 97 minutes. You'd be getting ready for at least a third of that time (let's say three seconds), anyway, so in the end let's say about an hour a year. For me, an hour a year might be worth $100 to $200 at the most. I wouldn't make a decision that weighs that particular feature very heavily.

I can start my 2015 RTS right up without waiting for nanny as can my buddy with his 2015...........................safe riding!

On my 2015 I have to wait. I know because my friend just bought a 2016 and does not have to wait. By some of these posts it sounds as if BRP may not have been consistent with this change.

Ruralgirl, Yes it will start anytime regardless how long it sits. Get on bike, turn on key ,hit mode button, hit starter button.....starts. I've been taking off and the dash isn't even completely fired up yet. Bought it this spring as a leftover 2015. Found out it would probably start from a post on a Canadian website so my buddy and I tried it and bang , it does start. The tech's at our 2 dealerships didn't even know you could start that way, said it wasn't possible. Give it a try. safe riding

I really couldn't tell what Empty Pockets was saying.

On the 2016 turn the key push the mode button then start. There is no delay. I've heard on the 2014 and 15's if you turn the key, press the mode button twice, then hit start there's no delay. have never owned a 14 or 15 so I cannot confirm if the hearsay is true

Just ran out and tried this on my late 2014 RT, (the 2015's were out) . Nope doesn't work on mine.

But not a big deal for me as I do what others have have said. Turn key, helmet on, buckled, hit mode while mounting and hit start once seated.

Hmmm, Saluda says the '16 makes you wait, Empty Pockets says it doesn't ..... 4 MARIE, break the tie! What year was the one that you tried out that didn't make you wait?

I saw a 16 a week ago, and you turn the key, the needles sweep, and you can Mode/start RIGHT THEN.
I put up a post about this, BRP says it is the instrument cluster that's different (NOT ECM) and not retrofittable toa 14.

That's amazing. I'm so leery of all the computer crap on this thing that I'm afraid to try what's working for you. I'll wait until a few other guinea pigs try this and get back with us! :D

Yes, I read your post on that. VERY interesting!

Ruralgirl, it really doesn't matter.:dontknow: If you make your starting routine to be - turn your key on when you reach the bike, and then put on your gloves and helmet and mount the RT, it's ready to start, whether you have a quick start model or not.

You're right, and that's what I do - turn the key the minute I approach my trike, then do my thing, whether it's donning duds or stowing away groceries, and it's usually ready to start. But not always. For some reason, not always. It's no biggie, but as I said earlier, all else being equal, it could definitely be my deciding factor.

Any sort of "Instant-Start" functionality, only becomes important if you're using the Spyder as a getaway vehicle for robbing banks... nojoke
