• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Did My first oil change question

Ok, just buttoned up the spyder after doing the second oil change, my first one. Was just curious that it seems the amount of torque I had to apply to remove the two drain plugs was quite a bit more than the specified amount I applied when reinstalling them? Is it normal that they tend to need a bit of force after being exposed to the constant heating and cooling they are subject to?

Oh yeah, felt kind of nice saving $120 doing it myself!:D

The drain plugs tighten up with the head and cold cycles. It is not necessary to get them very tight. Just snug is fine.

DIY - OIL CHANGE TIP

Brent the next time you do it.....give a hard tap to the plug with what ever you using to remove in the hole torx or hex etc. this will break the hold the varnish has .........Mike......

Might also consider getting a set of magnetic replacement plugs with a real wrench ready end:yes::yes::thumbup::ohyea::ohyea:

All of the above...

Relax it is normal. Follow the above and you will not have a problem or a worry...

HEX HEAD PLUG

Might also consider getting a set of magnetic replacement plugs with a real wrench ready end:yes::yes::thumbup::ohyea::ohyea:
I found the TORX head plug to be the difficult one,....so I re-placed that with a GOLD (brand) plug it was only $24 delivered I think Dimple was $34.00.................they are both stainless steel and the GOLD plug has a very powerful magnet........................Mike :bbq:

What oil did you deside to use? And why? I havn't recieved my Spyder RT yet from the shipping company but i'd like to change the oil right away when we get it.

Valvoline 4 -stroke for Mtc's 10w-40 Full Synthetic ( silver container ) has very low Molybendium in it......Moly is not good for our type clutches.....so this is what I use.......Walmart sells this for less than BRP Dino blended ....if you buy on-line in the 6-pack form ....about $35.00.......................Mike
