• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Experience, or know of someone who experienced problems with their Spyder going to, while, and going home from Cuba? With over 600(?) bikes and a huge cumulative mileage, I just wondered what the failure rate was? I know of one guy who may have blown a rear seal going back to Nor Cal out in the middle of nowhere. Bummer.:banghead:
 
I blew a tire 80 miles out from Cuba, fixed and on the road 15 min later, new tire put on Tuesday.
 
I failed to go... Does this count?
Guess not as I am not a BRP product (but I'm working on it!) :ohyea:
 
We were riding on Thursday and came across a couple on a Blue RT that had gone into limp mode and couldn't restart it. We helped them get restarted but then they took off and we never saw them again.
 
Starting problem

When I was getting ready for the parade my 2011 RTs ran bad and stalled and was a problem to start. The crew at Cowtown took the time to check everything out and update the TB. Runs fine now. Thanks to Len and his techs for the fast and friendly service.
 
Always take Spydee to the Dealer for a 'go through' before a road trip.

Confession time...

Was taking the back roads through Missouri and Arkansas. Being a flat lander, was practicing twisties and sweepers. Well, got the hang of sweepers, (get Spydee set up in the curve, and roll on the throttle,) and the VSS and DPS were flashing at me toward the end of the curve, as well as a distinct slowing down. Shauzz Bott!

Took the key out, walked away from Spydee saying things that would be deleted, got back on and she was good to go. Took the curves easy after that, no problems.

The rear shock cylinder has been replaced and think the front ones are bottoming out too, thus Nanny throwing a fit? Probably due to a previous road trip that was very bumpy.

i think he used a plug you can get at wallmart.and then when he got home biught a new tire.:chat::thumbup:
 
I chunked another front sprocket late thurs afternoon. Cowtown hauled me back in, gave me a loaner for the night. My ride was fixed by 10am friday morning:yes:
 
On the way to spyderfest, I lost my left Baker air wing in a big wind gust ( the same gust took the rubber bed right out of a pickup in the other lane). My fault though. didn't check to tighten screws before leaving.

On the return trip, I lost a foot peg. Used the pegs through Knoxville. Stopped for gas, and after potty break there were several people around spyder. I think someone must have been standing on the peg. anyway, tried to put my foot on it shortly after and it was gone. Broke off at the weld.
 
Went into limp mode Thursday on the way to Cowtown for the Rock ride, limped in, pulled up to BRP they put the buds on and said it was the DPS. They took me right in and changed it and was good to go for the rest of the trip.
 
2010 RT Throttle Body issue...

occurred Thursday afternoon and Friday morning (first 2 times it had ever happened) so straight to Cowtown Friday AM. Have to admit if you are going to have a problem, Spyderfest and Cowtown was the place to be to have it repaired. Not only did they fix the throttle body but also took care of the brake pin recall and another recall/update that I was missing. Now no one wants to break down or have problems with their :spyder:but Cowtown was great for getting it repaired given how much other work/activity was going on. Great kudos to Cowtown, their techs and staff as well as the BRP techs that were also there.

Oh, and it made the 7 hour trip home Sunday very restful knowing the problem had been resolved. I think I even saw some mileage improvement but will have to do a little more testing on that aspect.

Had a new TB installed at Cowtown

Friday morning had trouble at motel getting started had to wait till computer deside to go and it let me get to Cowtown and about 11am it would not run so had BRP Techs check it out and replaced the TB and got 34 to 37 MPG on the way home. My Picture of my 2010 RT while techs are working on it is # 81 on Lamont facebook.
 
Windshield broke

On the way home, my windshield snapped at the the screws. It didn't fly off, which was good but it just laid in my lap for the last 300 miles.:yikes: A little chilly, but I wanted a new one anyway.

:yikes::pray::gaah::bowdown::banghead: I don't think there's enough emoticons to truly express what went through your mind Dick. Was a stock shield or an aftermarket?

It was an F1 shield from Marcel. I don't think there is a stock shield that would do the job for me at my size. I installed it's replacement yesterday, a Madstad, and I think I'm going to like it even better.
The break on the old shield was kind of funny. It just kind of folded over over the tank when I was going through St. Louis. I guess it could have been a big deal had it become completely detached but it didn't so no harm, no foul.
 
had BRAKE FAILURE scolling across the screen while I was in Colorado, knowing it was low break fluid didn't bother with it till I was leaving for Durango the next day, Stopped by RPM Motorsports in Denver and they helped me out by letting me have some brake fluid. Brake Failure scrolling didn't quit. brakes are still working fine, but according to the Owner's Manual, I now have a faulty sensor.
 
I had a screw loose.

I was told there's no fixing that... but Cowtown found me a new one! :doorag:

I put an L bracket under my handlebar bad to keep it from rubbing the paint. Great thinking no?

Well... I forgot to locktite it and one screw came loose and the bracket spun around.

And "Bad Things" happened. I made a very sudden, sharp, right hand turn in a parking lot at low speeds. That would have been nasty at higher speeds.

Just goes to demonstrate how important it is to double check EVERYTHING when you're making even the most minor changes to the bike. A loose screw holding a bag up could get you killed.
