• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

DESS KEY CODE PICTURES ON A 2014 RTS-SE6

I have the same problem with 2014 and i talked to my dealer about it and he opened a file with bro and they advised the dealer to replace a part. I am taking it to the dealer on thurs for the fix . It is all under warranty. Sp brp
This afternoon I called my can-am dealer and asked "how much it would cost" they said it is "under warranty" I still have a lot of warranty left to use if needed. My spyder will be a year old at the end of this month. Deanna

Yes, Part # 710004190
Yes, that is the correct part # because I confirmed it with my can-am dealer. Also my can - am dealer will order the Module tomorrow, I have an appointment this Friday and it is under warranty. So I do not have to pay. Deanna

I called my dealer after the second time it happened. They told me also they have never heard of that before. Then after looking it up...4 hours later...I was told it was a common problem on the 2014 but this was the first on the 2015. The fix was to change the key module. The dealer told me they would need to put the bike on the computer first and then go from there. I ask them to tell me the difference between the 2014 and the 2015 besides color? There isn't anything different.
This is the first time that I have had the DESS KEY CODE with the orange color displayed on the instrument panel. I will keep everyone posted/ updated on this on Friday after I get it fixed. Deanna

Your dealer is essentially right concerning the question of changes from '14 to '15. However, BRP did change the part numbers for the ECM's and for the DESS modules. What did they actually change? Only BRP knows. Could be the size of a bolt-hole, a couple lines of computer code, or a whole change in computer strategy. No way your dealer would be expected to know they changed the part numbers. Only nut-cases like me go around looking up part numbers. :joke:

DESS Module Replacement..

I also had the same problem with my 2014 RTL.

Took it to the dealer and they replaced the DESS module under warranty. This was about two months ago and I haven't experienced a problem since.

That is good to know that you have not had a problem after you got it fixed. Deanna

They did not charge for the warranty and the 3000 mile service only cost me $163.

My 14 does this on a regular basis. i always get it to start by taking the key out and letting the system completely shut down and reboot. Shawn, my tec. at ProCaliber in Vancouver, Wa. says i need to bring it in with BOTH keys and he will wipe out the old code on them. He says t's no big to fix, but is a pain in the butt when it won't start. Today, I always take the key out when I stop. It still can not start, but not so often. Hope to see Shawn on Th.
