• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 ST's as well.

I just updated this thread. I had the D.E.S.S Module replaced + keys reprogramed on July 17th with 6,994 miles. I have a 2014RTS-SE6.

Does anyone know if the Manufacturer's Warranty still covers this, even it is the 2nd time that has happened?

Hi Bob,

Re: BRP has a problem getting decent-quality parts from their outside vendors...

Having spent 30 yrs overseeing the implementation of QC programs, that is rarely the vendor's fault. But, sometimes it is.

It is usually the failure of the buyer's QC proogram, the specs for the parts, incoming inspections, etc, etc.

Add to the known problem, I only get the D.E.S.S Error on one of my keys. At least for now anyway.

Everybody likes to point fingers at everyone else; but I absolutely trust my source...

Let us know if you get the D.E.S.S Error on the other key. Also, post a picture if you can. Deanna

Good luck.Hope they get to the root of this problem
Bill

I hope BRP does get a handle on this issue, I wonder if the 2016RTS-SE6'S will have the same D.E.S.S. Key code issue?????? Time will tell. Deanna

So what is the DESS error basically ?......a communication issue between the key and the computer ? Just curious.

Thanks and I hope those with the issue get it fixed.

As I understand it; the DESS is BRP's antitheft system for their products.
When you fire up the ignition: this system emits a signal that will try to read the code contained in your chipped ignition key.
If it gets the wrong signal: it shuts things down!
Which is a GOOD thing for you, if your bike is being toyed-with by a miscreant... :D
NOT a good thing; if it's you, and your keys! :yikes:

This week I should be getting an email from my dealer saying What BRP wants to do next. I will keep everyone updated on what happens. Stay Tuned! Deanna

Have you been able to ride this weekend at all :dontknow:? The weather is gorgeous! (87 degrees down here!)
Yes, I did go riding today, and I went on Thursday late afternoon. Today the weather was awesome up here also.

Tomorrow, and Monday the temps in the 90's WOHOO! I can handle this type of weather now until next spring. Deanna

In light of the fact that on the 2015 all they changed was the colors, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Glad I got a 13!

Besides the saving for getting my 2013 late as May 2014, thankfully I have not had these problems glad to see everyone deal well with it & BRP should get a grip on keeping us happy. We are good customers & there has been entirely too many problems from heat to tires & this for a weaker customer base to tolerate.

As I mentioned in http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?84143-Curse-you-DESS&p=1017075#post1017075 the D.E.S.S. module either bad or good cannot be diagnostically tested so the only recourse is to replace with another module and keep fingers crossed hoping the latter will not fail which apparently has happened in some cases. OTOH one would think whoever is manufacturing the modules for BRP should have a go/no-go test to determine if the unit is satisfactory IMO.

To date I have received only two responses to my request for information from owners of failed and replaced modules to send information to BRPcare. Without documentation of numbers of failures and replacements, both single and multiple cases, any correspondence to BRPcare is IMO just whining. I consider it presumptuous of me to report your problems to BRP without your consent. YMMV.

I too had the key code problem while on vacation last week. Had to keep trying but each time it finally started. Also had Module replaced once. Now dealer is ordering me another.
