• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Deposit finally placed   on a pair of Spyder RT (base) models in black.

It's been a tough decision exacerbated because we're buying two, but its done now. We should take delivery in just over a week all being well. It's a lot of outlay and there are so many other things we could have done with the funds but it's not completely wasted in that they'll retain some value, but being a commercial manager its hard not to weigh up the cost of these type of decisions and difficult to not feel like the money would have been better invested for the future, but where's the fun in that? You never know when your last moment is so may as well enjoy what you can while you have your health!

We have two boys, 9 and 7, the plan is to go out on family days together and enjoy the Spyders as a family. I have a horrible feeling of guilt at the moment like we've just squandered a load of hard earned, I have other toys (motorbikes) but none of them to this sort of value, gulp. Hopefully this feeling will subside when we're out riding, but in the meantime I feel more anxious rather than excited!! My wife on the other hand is very excited.

Thanks to all for the advice I've received so far on here, we'll post pics when we take delivery.

All the best

:congrats: If you're worried about the money, (And who isn't?); try to think of it as an investment in your family's enjoyment!
Kind of like a really cool condo; only this one goes everywhere!! :2thumbs:

I know how you feel. Spending so much on "toys" when you've worked long and hard to provide for your family's needs just feels uncomfortable sometimes. The way I've reconciled it is that you've bought something that will help make wonderful memories for all of you. In the end that's what we leave behind - the memories we've created with the people our lives have touched. I'm looking forward to reading about some of the memories you've made here on Spyderlovers.

Congratulations and enjoy!

Congrats on your new Spyders:yes:

With fear comes real appreciation. It is a huge financial outlay, and one worthy of the time and thought you've clearly given it. In the long term, I think you'll find that you've made a great investment. Just don't let the Spyders sit in the garage or limit their use - they can be almost as fun running to the store (for a small amount of stuff - storage is limited) as on the canyons.

You're in great shape (that is unless you bought the wrong color, then they are doomed to make you unhappy and regretful for years to come).

Relax..!!

your answer will be coming in a week or so. Once you are all out there the investment will prove to be a great one. I felt the same way and felt the tension fade with every mile. Your whole family is going to love it...:2thumbs:

Thanks to all of you, clearly with the benefit of 'enlightenment', I'm sure we'll feel the same way too as you've all attested to!

Mindman, that's deep, and much appreciated, when you put it like that it gives me goosebumps because ultimately, you're absolutely right, it's the most powerful thing we can leave behind, along with a pair of :spyder2:s ;) .

Cheers

I know the feeling

Just traded for a 2014 RTL, it will be OK, must enjoy life, don't know what tomorrow brings.

I understand your concerns as my wife had the same ones last year when she wanted one. I told her to get it, but she kept saying we should invest the money for retirement. I told her that there is no guarantee that we will make it to retirement and even if we do we still need to live today. I than pointed out that her uncle who just retired at 61 died of a heart attack while prepairing his retirement home. We purchase the ST-L that evening. She express buyers remorse until my brother died a week later at 64. He did not make it to retirement.
Since then we have been creating memories and never looked back.

:congrats:on your new :f_spider:'s and  to your new adventures in life.

Nito, :congrats: on your impending purchase! What you're feeling may have to do with buying two at one time. That is a chunk of change all at once. Like others have said, though, you and your family will have so much fun with them you'll not regret it at all. Can't wait to see the pics!

:congrats: on the two-fer purchase. The :spyder2:'s will pay you back in many other ways. Family time is priceless.

Enjoy the rydes. :yes::yes:

Congratulations on your purchase! I understand your thoughts regarding the large outlay of cash. We purchased two last year. I really think you and your family will enjoy your Spyders and the memories that you will make will be priceless.

Nito are the 2 the New 2014 Models if not what year did you go for if the 998 model
Was intrested to see if they were the 2014 model that they could arrange delivery in just over a week
Maybe BRP are importing more now into the UK

Thanks again everyone.

Eddie, they're SE6 2014 Triples. There were three base RT's on the sytem in stock at BRP Gent yesterday, we've bagged two of those, not many of these base models have been sold at all apparently. They'll be on the wagon UK bound friday to GS sometime mon-wed. There's a boat load of RTS and Limiteds due at the end of May so mid June deliveries I guess. Apparently they don't order new models in until they sell out, so no base RT's will be on the boat! There was only a couple of limiteds in stock a couple of weeks back cant remember the colours now, think it was blackcurrent.

Amazingly they've been selling a lot of 998 RT limiteds which astounds me, for more money than the ACE RTS model too!

Cheers
