• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Decisions, Decisions?

Should one buy a new 2013 ST-X or cash in on an inventory reduction 2012 RT-X. The ST will be the next generation Spyder with improvements in several areas.
The 2012 RT-X would be a cost savings based on inventory reduction pricing displayed by the various dealers. Comments? :chat:

if it is in your price range...

if you have the extra money then I say go for the ST. For me it was an easy choice to go ahead and get the 2012 RS-S because the features I liked about the ST were only on the ST-S and up but not on the base ST so the price range would have been more than I felt comfortable spending on a recrerational vehicle(plus my wife would have veto that right away).

Depends on the Deal?
I got the $21,800 Base RT for $17,000 Plus Only Tax/Reg a Month ago!
I saved $4,800 and am extremely Happy.:ohyea:

Why ask us? You are the only one that could know which model you would prefer, and what price would suit you. Don't depend on an answer from anyone else...there will be a different answer for everyone you ask. Ride them, analyze the prices and the features, and go where your heart leads you. Every choice has both advantages and drawbacks, but in the end, any Spyder is worth owning. JMHO

Old Dog,
I sure do not envy you with the choice that you're looking to make...
I really do love my RT
But I also rode an ST Limited...
The difference in the handling and braking was tremendous! :2thumbs:
But the savings on a 2012 leftover is also rather alluring...

The choice is of course; yours to make!
..."You must choose wisely..."
But honestly; it's a win-win situation!

"You must choose wisely..." That's sounds like something from Yoda or a Shaolen Monk, Grasshopper. ;)

In reality it's kind of a nice dilemma.

:agree: totally with Scotty on this one. You have been on the fence for a long time about :spyder2:'s in general. To ask for someone to convince you which way to go is only going to have someone's bias pushed into the argument, and that may or may not mesh with what you really feel about it.

You have to try them out and see what you like. Is the new technology better for you? Or, do you want to save money? In my purchase of four spyders, three were for the new technology and the last was to save some dollars. 08--new :ani29:, take it or leave it as is. 09--SE5 transmission--take it or leave it as is. 10-First RTS--take it or leave it as is. 2011--had a choice of 2012 or 2011. I saved about 4K by getting the 2011 with less equipment than the full blown LTD. Times and priorities change--so you have your job cut out for you.

I would wait until you can compare the 2013's with what is out there now so you can have a good comparison.

Well consider the qualities of each as a pro or a con then compare. Don't get swayed by the newest or the cheapest

2012 Pro's. Cheaper, Three years of development, Quantum Blue (my bias!), Tires will be
cheaper than the 2013's, Lots of used after market Farkles and parts available

Con's. Needs better shocks, Ride still won't be as stiff as 2013's

2013 Pro's. Better ride, 15 inch wheels, Adjustable bars, Adjustable vents, Fancy fenders and I am sure some more that I missed.

Cons. More expensive, less time to work out new issues, Tires will be more expensive,
Less Farkles available (this may be a Pro)

Anyway continue this list of your own and then start crossing off items that don't matter to you and the answer should be obvious to you.

Decisions Decisions

Well from an old man that likes a RT, and have one for a year almost with 25,000 miles, go for the RT.:spyder2:
