• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Who all is going to the 2019 3 wheel rally in Deadwood, 5th Anniversary should be bigger and better than last year. Patti and I are reserved at the Travelodge. Patti has her own bike now so will be riding 2 bikes.

That seems to be a trend. One bike per person for a couple. I like that.

I should have gone to the Deadwood rally the first year, before it got big. I'm not a fan of big gatherings, but I realize I'm different than most.

I'm not a fan of crowds either , we were there last year and I would not consider that rally a big one. It was fun seeing some people we have seen before at diffirent rallys and that country is so big it swallows up that many folks with no problem. You should go Pete and enjoy the Ryde.

Thanks for the info Pete, I was on First Golds site yesterday just kicking the tires and was surprised when it came up fully booked!

Probably will not be going this year. Went last year and was not impressed. Get togethers, and food were out in heat or rain, under a tent type pavillion. Vendors were out in the weather. Not to knock it or anything because I know setting up this type of event is not easy, but just seemed very unorganized. Scenery is beautiful in the area, but was really no organized rides, unless you did your own.

My wife and I won't be going next year but we did enjoy it this year. We enjoy doing our own rides and the Black Hills are great. It was interesting that the host hotel did not have a guest laundry but there was a laundromat just up the street.

Pete, I encourage you to not think of this as a "big gathering" as you can do as little or as much as you want. Last year was our first year and we did every ride after the first day on our own. Best ridding ever for us; we loved it and I plan on going back.

We were there in 2018, and didn't really think it was that big of a crowd. Lots of great riding for sure, but the event we thought was a bit unorganized. Really no advantage at all to staying at First Gold, other than it's across from the venue. I would find a hotel with more amenities if I went back. But hey, I won a trailer so I won't complain. I doubt we'll go back this year. Gonna try some other events I think, and maybe some more weekenders

Comment from our local Spyder Ryders chapter president.
Just in case any of you are thinking about attending this event in early July. Information coming from the organizers is the rooms our rapidly filling up. The RV park next to the rally site was booked up a couple of months ago. There are lots of motels and RV spots in around the area. I’m sure you’d still be able to find someplace but you should be aware it sounds like the fifth annual rally is getting bigger and bigger.

I was there for 2018 and one of the features I really liked was that all the rides were self guided and you go as fast or slow as you wanted and stop when you felt like it. I did do the "Ride with a Local" ride and that was fun. We learned a few this we likely would not have known. This is an idea I think other rallies/Ride ins/meet and greets could use.

I rode to the event in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Had a good time at every one. But next year I will bypass it and ride out to the NorCal Spyder rally in California. I have never been that far west on my Spyder and look forward to seeing northern California and then Oregon, Washington, and Idaho after the rally.
