Dead battery - 6V or 12V?

This might seem like a dumb question, but I left my spyder's power on accidentally last night and tonight I was greeted by a dead spyder.

The dealer installed a battery tender, but I have never used it. It has two settings... 6V and 12V. I though it would be 12V, but when I set it to that, I get an error. I just set it to 6V and it seems to be charging.

What do you think?

The battery was so dead that the battery charger thinks that it can't be a 12V battery. That happened to me on a battery, not a Spyder one. I hooked up an old stupid trickle charger for 4 or 5 hours and then the smart charger worked.

:agree: what he said. You can jump it and run it for a while or get a real battery charger. You will have to get some voltage in it for the tender to pick it up. Good luck..!! :thumbup:

Jump start the Spyder to let the magneto charge the battery for a while(if the connections are clean and tight), then put it back on the charger overnight.

Using the 6 volt setting on a 12 volt batter can't harm anything; can it? :dontknow:
(I know what happens if the reverse situation is encountered...:yikes
