There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dead 1330 on my F3-S...

Took my wife for a ride tonight. We went to see my son's last football game for the year. They were playing a team 45 miles from our house. Nice ordinary ride on the way there. We went to leave and as I pulled out of the parking lot my F3-S went into limp mode. I pulled in to the parking lot on the other side of the school and gave the spyder a quick once over and checked the oil. I found nothing out of the ordinary so I started it back up and tried to ride it to the gas station a quarter mile down the road but it died half way there. I tried to restart it but it wouldn't fire. It just turned over. So I pushed it the rest of the way to the gas station and called for a ride so I could get my truck and trailer to tow it home. When I get back to load the spyder I tried to start it one more time and boom it sounded like a grenade went off under me including a nice size fireball. Found a couple of plastic under the spyder one has a bolt in it and one has some sort of gasket attached to it. I have not been able to check the bike over since then since it is to dark. I've owned the spyder just over 2 months and it has less than 3400 miles. I just had the first service done a few hundred miles ago. I'm thinking the timing went but won't know for sure until tomorrow when I drag it to the dealer.

Yikes...!!

This is a new one...:yikes: hope you get back with the results of your dealer visit and it is not as bad as it sounds...

Air filter housing is lifted about a half inch.

Good news--you are under warranty.

Please keep us posted. This is a new one as far as I can recollect.

Sounds like a massive backfire to me. A build up of fuel could cause that or if the valve timing shifted it could have fired while the intake valve was open, blowing back through the intake.
Be interesting to see what caused it. And I hope it turns out to be a extremely rare occurrence.

Hope you get it fixed or replace soon! Although I don't have an f3, keep us posted on the findings!

Yikes

Sorry to hear this. Glad you are OK. As others have said keep up posted. I have the ace on my RTS and going in for service Sat with 3400 on the clock. Think I will push it out of the garage.

Got the word today oil pump failure. Lots of internal damage. Broken oil pump shaft, bent and broken valves, piston damage, and damaged bearings. I guess the transmission is supposed to be ok. Waiting on BRP to deside what they are going to do.

:sour:  :dontknow: I'm at a loss on what to think. We were actually thinking about picking up a second spyder. I don't know if I even want this one anymore.

I'm sure warranty will cover it. The engine/trans is an assembly so I'd bet BRP does a complete swap.
It's an odd failure and the first I've heard of one like that. I wouldn't sweat it. Lean on them to get it done quick so you have as little down time as possible

Sorry to hear that. BRP will make it right. Don't let this sour you on Spyders. This is an extremely rare occurrence. Other than a few water pump leaks being reported, the 1330 has been a very solid engine.

I had a lot of issues with my 2010 RT (bought new). I stuck with it because BRP were excellent with their warranty (even to replacing the throttle bodies twice). I am sure you will be looked after. Let us know the outcome.
