DC Cigarrette/USB Plug

I want to add a cigarette/USB plug somewhere in my dashboard. Any ideas for a location, I am not looking to remove any of my current gauges (analog). Also part number if you have one.

Thanks.

I put mine on the speaker grill. Super simple to do.

Here is my video showing how I did that as part of my DIY GPS install.

Jump to 1 minute 40 seconds in the video to see the start of that part and then later in the video (9 minutes 44 seconds) to see the finished 12V socket wiring, etc.

I'm just curiuos as to why you don't want to remove any of your analog gauges. The digital ones are more accurate and I put a USB plug on my left side where the analog guage use to be with 2 USB plugs and it works great to keep my phone charged.

Thank you for the information, but on my 2015 bike I do not have that empty space. :(

My friend let me tell you why, 1) I am not mechanical incline, and 2) All my dealers in my area really sucks. Thank you for the information.

I'm not that mechanically inclined either. I found a video on here that showed how to do it. I then went and looked at the spyder to seee how hard it was to do and decided that I could do it and ordered the part from a spyderlovers sponsor and it actually came with very ggod instructions on how to do it. It took me about 15 mins to do.

if you will go to the home page and find JT's machine shop and on there go to Dash Power and then click Dash Power again on that page you will see the instructions with pictures and see that it i8s really not that difficult. I was in the same boat you are until I looked at that and decided I could do it. I hope this helps.

Cool I will, thank you again.

I used JT's grommets, great quality! Took about 15 to install, fits like a glove.Took another 10 minutes to run wiring to battery (so I could use battery tender in 12v socket. 11008.jpg

I see that you remove the fuel gauge so how do you know the fuel level? Also where did you get the ball mount?

When you remove the analog gauges (you must remove both) then you get fuel and temp on the digital cluster panel. These are FAR more accurate than the analog gauges. MANY people remove the analog gauges because they are not very accurate.

I got the RAM mount off Ebay (about $15). It's a standard suction cup mount sold by RAM mounts.

Bob thanks for the fast response and where did you get the digital cluster panel?

Huh? It's the center panel on your dash! Every Spyder comes with one :) The square panel that has speed, etc on it.

When you unplug the analog gauges if you look on that square dash panel you will now see a bar on the far left and a bar on the far right. Left is TEMP and right is gas level.

Show me where I have the space please. (See my pic) Thanks.

Did you watch my video at 9 minutes 44 seconds? I show remove the speaker grill to the left of the handlebars. It pops right out.
You can mount a cig 12V socket there.

Daah my mistake, got it now thanks. :banghead:

plug

I put mine right below the speaker on the right side. If you remove the speaker grill you can feel the available space right below it.

e-bAY

You can get the DC plug for $ 3.00 at any auto parts store ....and E-Bay has the USB adapter for about $2.50........Mike
