There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dave & Teds Most Excellent Adventures 2013

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 21-Thursday-Vendor Villiage-Hot times in da sun

Did I mention, this was the one clear, sunny & HOT day that we had :hun: if not, it was  And now we're finding ourselves around mid-day with the blazing hot sun beating down on us:shocked: so I kept trying to duck in under the cover of vendor tents whenever possible, to make sure the lil ham-bone :joke: (Teddy) wasn't get'n over heated too badly. I kept his watering bowl with us, and offered him fresh water often, and as soon as a passerby would see me flip his bowl out, they just had to know what it was & where I got it. I looked thru our albums, but didn't really see a good pic of it in use, or I'd post one here so you could see, cause really, it is a pretty trick little watering device made for pets. Its basically your typical water jug with a screw on top that has a pull out nipple which really isn't anything special, but the special part is the attached neoprene bowl that forms a perfect fit around the jug when not needed, but when you need a bowl to put the dogs water in, you just take the neoprene bowl and bend it backwards away from the jug, turning it inside out, and it automatically forms into a bowl, in which you squeeze the jug and water fills the bowl from the nipple

Once the dog is done drinking from the bowl, you dump any remaining water that you squeezed from the jug to the bowl out on the ground, then take and bend the neoprene bowl back around the jug and it once again form fits itself around the jug  Since the dog never touches the nipple, and the water is never reused, the human can safely drink from the same jug as well;)

Really a nifty little set-up, cause in years past, we'd always have the unattached jug and bowl, and I swear, inadvertantly every time, I'd end up always leaving the bowl behind somewhere and then have to cup my hand into a bowl, and thats never fun for Teddy to have to try and drink out of:cus: I think the container is made by Lixit & its called the Thirsty Dog water container. I took the effort and googled it for any of you that may be interested, and here's a link and a pic of the jug with the bowl collapsed onto the jug, but they don't show a pic with the bowl dispensed out for the water so that the dog can drink, and at first, as some of the reviews on Amazon state, its hard to deploy, but once you do it a few times and get the hang of it, it becomes second nature and I think like us, most users would really enjoy it ;)

We buy most of our Teddy supplies at our local StrasseDog here in Covington, and ours was $9.99 so Amazon has a good price at only being $6.50 with free shipping. Hmmmmmmm, if I were smart, and had the extra funds, I'd buy a bunch at that price and store them in Teddy's camper for while we're on road-trips, cause just about every stop someone see's us using it, and wants to know where they can get one for their pet. I could probably sell them for $12 bucks easily and make a little $$ here and there. But in all reality, I do well to just be able to keep up with Teddy, less alone worrying about inventory, stock and other stuff - lol :lecturef_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

who knew telling one little story would lead to so many other stories and take so dang long   :roflblack::roflblack:

Prayers for Lamont & his wife after motorcycle/deer accident last night

In case any of you that follow along here may have missed the post, it seems that Lamont & his wife were in a motorcycle accident last night, hitting a deer with his new 2 wheeler. I'm just relaying what I've read, and don't have any personal knowledge of what transpired, but he is ok & posted about it on his FaceBook account. I don't do FaceBook, had too many stalkers in years past, so I haven't been able to verify anything for myself. But it seems they were on his new 2 wheeler and hit a deer. The 2 wheeler is totaled and his wife is still in the hospital with severe road rash but nothing life threatening and she should be ok

EDIT: Here's a link to the info firsthand from Lamont himself:
http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?53757-Thanks-for-your-thoughts-and-prayers

Teddy & I are praying for both of them to have full recoveries and I'm sure they'd appreciate any and all of your prayers as well. I know this has got to be hard on Lamont, after dealing with a similar accident last year, when his son was hit and hospitalized while on his 2 wheeler by a truck. Luckily, he has been recovering well, from my understanding. But to have your son, then yourself and your wife all go thru similar events, it can really be hard on a person. Lamont is a strong willed man, and I know he'll be ok, but prayers for the best outcome never can hurt :bowdown::pray:

I'm starting to get a little Excited again, looks like we'll be able to make the trip

When I went in to work on Monday, and tried starting my Laser, the computer program for it was shot, wouldn't load or do anything. I figured, no big deal, surely they have the program backed up on a server or somewhere. But low and behold, this had never happened before and we came to find out, there was no back up to be found  Really  Something so important and no back-up huh :lecturef_smilie:

Well, friday after lunch, they finally got a work around that worked well enough for it to work, and my department is back in business again. Hopefully I'll be able to run enough parts on Monday and Tuesday that will get the departments that I feed thru the rest of the week, and I will be able to take my vacation days off on Wed, Thu, & Friday & Teddy & I should be able to make the trip to the Maggie Valley Owners Event & Lamonsters Bar-B-Q

I just confirmed with the Central KY group, that if they're willing to deal with all the extra attention and hassles that come along with travelling with :ohyea: The Tedster :doorag: then we'll be ryding down to Lexington Motor-Sports on Wednesday morning, and we'll be joining their group for the ryde out
:yes::yes::yes: SOOOO EXCITED !!! :yes::yes::yes:

:2thumbs:Here's a copy of what I posted on their thread about us making the group ryde with them, if they'll have us:2thumbs:

They got my Laser running again at work, so I should be able to take my vacation time off and Teddy & I will be able to attend :clap:both the Owners Event in Maggie Valley & also Lamonsters Bar-B-Q :doorag::clap:

I just talked with Jesse & he'll be trailering his Spyder but will also be joining us for the trip:ohyea:
attachment.php

Teddy & I will be ryding his Red Sled & pulling our Moto-Mate Camper :doorag: We promise to do our  BEST  to try and not slow every one else in the group down, but be forwarned, we do usually garner a little extra attention and that can cause us to take a little longer at stops than every one else  :chill:
attachment.php

Also, when towing Teddy's dog-house-on-wheels we only average right around 100-110 miles per tank, so please :bowdown:don't get mad at us for the more frequent fuel stops:chill:
attachment.php

If the group feels we're too much drama to deal with:lecturef_smilie: no problem, just kindly let us know and we'll go it alone :ohyea:For the above mentioned reasons, we've gotten used to doing our own thing so we don't inconvenience others in a group setting, and there's no hard feelings ;) Dave~

Jeff................................

I hope you're talking about keeping Jesse out of your bed!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear where / how Jesse might pick you guys up in Maggie Valley (you know he owns places everywhere).

no, no, no....

that was in reference to an inside joke at Spyderfest - I let Dave & Teddy stay in my hotel room (since it had 2 beds and he needed a place to stay)

and on the first night, I woke up around 3am to discover Teddy cuddled up next to me in my bed

lol

Just like clockwork, another bump in the road

As previously stated, our last trip, which was to SpyderFest 2013 was a jarring one to say the least, and recently, frustratingly the full repercussions of all that jarring are coming to fruition.

The broken dog-bone windshield mount, that has broken for the second time now, has me concerned. I tried to be proactive with the shop, and not wait til the last minute, but the new shop manager forgot to check his email for the pics of the broken dog-bone to see if BRP would once again cover it under Warranty, and after not hearing back from him for 3 days, we stopped by to find out what the status was. He apoligized and said he'd never checked his email, so nothing had been sent, started or nothing. Luckily for us, the old shop manager was still there and stepped up to the plate, letting me know that he'd make sure to get it taken care, and that he'd get BRP to cover it, and they'd get everything ordered that day and if the stars are aligned just right, they should get it in on Tuesday and if I can get the sled up to them, they'll work us in to get it installed that day. If not, we'll either have to wait til they do get it in, and installed and not leave for Maggie Valley til after they finish with it, or chance going with the broken support rigged as it is with duct tape & a hose clamp  which I don't see turning out well.

Then, there's the matter of Teddy's Sun-Canopy bit the dust 2 days ago. I knew from the get-go that this was a first attempt prototype of sorts, and I have to admit, I'm very happy with the results and pleased with the life that we got out of it. Considering it was made out of spare parts from the garage, and a scratched moped windshield donated to Teddy by a fan that owns a moped shop, I couldn't have really expected anything better than the results that we got. I knew going in, when I drilled that hole at the front of the shield for the ram-mount that that right there was going to be my weakest link in the entire set-up, and even tho another contact point had a crack in it, it was still holding. But this past week did in the front contact support, causing it to crack the entire front of the shield :yikes: Sure I could probably manage a work around, but it wouldn't look anything like Teddy would be seen ryding around in, and I just can't bring myself to do that to the lil guy :lecturef_smilie:

So I hit CraigsList and found a slightly used Yamaha sport shield, already tinted red, for only $40. Did a quick check, and they retail for around $80, so I figured I'd doubtfully find a cheaper or better replacement and went ahead and got it. I'm not totally sure how well its going to work tho, as it is alot narrower than the moped shield we had been using, but I figure it can't hurt to try :dontknow: So I set about last night, trying to rig it up for our intended use, as a Sun-Canopy over Teddys seating area like our previous model. I could easily use the same mount set-up with the Ram-balls, as the new shield already had holes predrilled on the sides just like our previous one, but again, no hole predrilled in the very front. Now, if I had the time and funds, I could order another Ram-pole-mount like the tri-pod set up we're using now, and use the stock mounting holes and use a 4 pole set-up instead of our tri-pod setup of now and not worry about having to drill a hole in the very front to mount the tri-pod ram-pole mount set-up that we've been using.

Decisions decisions, but alas time and money are always a concern, and we're out of both, no time and no money :dontknow: So I got to looking around the spare parts bin (AKA Teddy's Garage :roflblack:) and noticed a few suction cup mounts that came with a cup-holder as an alternate mounting method, but we went another route with it, so the suction cups were never used and extra, and there were three of them :hun::shocked: which got my gears a turning in my head  which is always a scary situation to be in  So I fabbed up a mock-up of the new Sun-Canopy and didn't like using the previous mounting method, and decided to give the suction cup mounting method a try

Well, I'm not convinced yet that it will work & we'll need the next couple of days to prove it out or that its a bust, but we gave it its maiden voyage last night around 10pm and it did hold. Its alot more wobly than our previous set up, but that's ok, as the way I have it supported and connected to the byke, provides for just that scenario. I'm just not sure its going to be wide enough to actually provide the pup with the sun protection that he's going to need, but we need a sunny day to try it out & wouldn't you know it, it was storming like crazy this morning and I think suppose to be kinda rainy for the next few days. We'll have to wait & see how this pans out. :dontknow:

Then there's my all important on long rydes cup-holder that just broke :cus::yikes: and that was totally out of the blue and I'll admit, the rest I could handle, but this one just really soured my mood. I can't imagine a long road-trip without a drink at hand :cus: Kind of like you don't know what you got til its gone:lecturef_smilie: Well, this is kind of like loosing your Ron-Bar after having it for 2 months, or losing your Utopia or your Seals or whatever you've gotten accustomed to and enjoy that really makes your ryding that much more pleasurable, and now its gone :cus::mad::banghead::chill: Yeah, kinda like that

Damn, I just realized, I bitch & moan alot, don't I :opps::lecturef_smilie:

OH NO! I just realized I forgot to register Teddy & I for the Owners Event[/h]
I just got confirmation today that I can have my vacation time off in order for Teddy & I to attend the Owners Event in Maggie Valley this year, but I just realized, with not knowing, I didn't register thinking I wouldn't be given the time off. Now that I know its approved, I just realized I hadn't registered and the registration is closed. Anyone know what this means??? If we show up, and aren't registered, will we not be allowed to join in on all the reindeer games? :dontknow:

I went to BRPs registration page which states that 'This Event Is Now Closed' and I sent them an email from their contact page stating the above, but I'm not sure what to expect or do now :dontknow: Anyone in the know have a suggestion maybe :dontknow:

Dave,

I hope you and Teddy show up. I can't imagine BRP not welcoming the Tedster and you for any Spyder event. We are looking forward to meeting you. Jan has even brought treats for Ted................................................... See you at Maggie Valley.

Think I'll even make a little sandwich board for Teddy

 Will work or do tricks for Registration tickets :roflblack:

But if he had his way, it'd read

:ohyea:Will pose for treats :doorag:

Scatter brained, but nothing new about that

All the things to do and redo and to get done for the long trip ahead. Teddy & I took a little time out of the madness to ryde with Coz & Jesse yesterday, and we did a nice lil group of 3 ryde out along the Scenic Ohio River along route 8 out to the bridge in Aberdeen then cut across into Ohio and stopped in Ripley along the River at the soda shop. Had an awesome BLT and Teddy had almost an entire order of Fries to himself (btw, Teddy said thanks for the fries BobD ;)) It started out a nice day, tho thankfully for Teddy, it was mostly overcast. I say that cause the poor lil guy had to ryde without his sun-canopy in place, cause the new one wasn't ready for trials just yet :( Glad it wasn't too sunny, cause he was already overheating even with it being overcast  so if it were sunny, he'd a been one HOT DOG  :roflblack::roflblack: Sorry, couldn't help myself there.

But yeah, since we waited for Jesse to get outta church, and me to get outta bed (after he called & woke me up :opps:) he informed me that he may not be able to make the trip with us to Maggie Valley and wouldn't know 100% for sure til tomorrow  so we'll see how that plays out :dontknow: To think, the thought even crossed my mind that if he doesn't go, we'd actually miss having 'Uncle Jesse' as Teddy calls him ;) and our support vehicle along for the trip  But waiting as we did, we ended up getting caught in a deludge on the way home and had to ryde for about 35 minutes with it pouring down, sometimes easy, other times in buckets :sour: Seeing as our Cal-Sci is all scratched up anyways, I'm definitely going to try and see if rain-x will help with the rain to slide off easier, cause right now, it just stands on the shield and I don't like that much at all nojoke I know I know, your not suppose to use rain-x on plastic, but this shield is already ruined, so I don't think a little experimentation is really gonna do much more damage than whats already been done :dontknow: Thankfully, we still have our stock shield in storage, so if worse comes to worse, we'll put it back on.

What about Spyderfest!!!!

I realized attention gets "diverted" to other things along the way but need to finish the Spyderfest experience before you get caught up in the Maggie Valley experience. I know there will be more stories from MV.

You are correct, tho there are only so many hours in a day & so much yet to do

I realized attention gets "diverted" to other things along the way but need to finish the Spyderfest experience before you get caught up in the Maggie Valley experience. I know there will be more stories from MV.

This is where I wish Teddy could put his lil paws to work and he could type all of it out while I dictated the story to him while trying to finish all the mods up in the garage in time for us to leave Wednesday morning  no promises here, but I will give it my best shot, if only I can make the time

good ryde yesterday

except for the rain. i was pleasantly surprised at how well the spyder behaved in the rain. i think i outran most of it, until the last 6 or 7 miles:yikes:.spyder has a nice coating of road slime on it:banghead:. i hate it when that happens.:roflblack:

Sorry to disapoint .............................................

I realized attention gets "diverted" to other things along the way but need to finish the Spyderfest experience before you get caught up in the Maggie Valley experience. I know there will be more stories from MV.

But I now realize there just isn't enough hours in the day/night for me to get everything done that needs getting done for the trip to Maggie Valley & Lamonsters Bar-B-Q AND to be able to complete the story, at least not how it should be completed :lecturef_smilie: with all the details ya'll have come to expect. For example, do you know where the best place in America is, while on the road, to get the BEST STEAK you've EVER Eaten?:bbq:

I could simply give a 'FootNotes Edition' on what all else transpired, but it would be greatly lacking to say the least :opps: & I'd rather take a break from the story, head out on our newest adventure:yes: and then continue where we left off once we return

That way, you won't be short changed of all the great happenings and also, we'll have all new ammo to start our next tale with

So, this is our official T.B.C. ..........for our SpyderFest 2013 The New Adventure storyline
