He then made the comment about checking into possibly trading his 12' in on a new 14' & then I had to give the 'Not So Good News'that some BRP Dealers are listing Brand New 2013 models for $7 Grand off MSRP in an effort to reduce inventory before the 14' models hit the showroom in late December. I also told him that I had done a search this morning of Ebay recent sales on RTs, and some were going as low as $15 Grand to a high of $22 & after a minute of thinking, he realized there'd be no way in hell he could even get pay-off for his 2012 RT-Limited (at least in todays market) & that really soured otherwise great news :sour:
I think it's a spurious argument, Dave.
Fact is, until you show folks next year's whizz-bang mega-super improved model, they're quite happy with the one they already have.
But they see and desire the new model which appears to be superior in many ways, but that's just the sales people talking.
What you and everyone else, including the sales people, don't know is if there are any hidden gremlins that no one knows about yet....
and if and when they raise their ugly heads, how much time and money it'll take to sort them out!
It's not always 'roses' and 'new' doesn't necessarily mean better....actually 'new' generally means 'much more expensive'.
I drive an '06 Citroen, made in Turkey, and I'd sure like to own a later model, but the thing is I LIKE my old Citroen and I know the new one is bigger and better appointed but it won't do what my old one can do quite as well so I'll stick with the devil I know! Same goes for my 2010 RS-S! I like what it does and the way in which it does it!
