SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 24-Thursday-Vendor Villiage=Angels among us

So Teddy got to perform under the Big Tent for a good 35 minutes or so for his newest fans, all awhile, I'm answering questions and sneaking myself a fry or two, but then, with all the heat and my lack of food & hydration, I started to feel a little nautious and explained to the small crowd that it was time for us to head out. I've learned from past experiences to listen to my body, otherwise it won't work and that's not a good situation for Teddy nor I. So Teddy posed for some final pics and we set out to head back across the scorching parking lot and to make it back out to the Sled and camper which were parked out back behind where most the vendors were set-up.

A bit more backstory:
Some of you may not be aware, but last year Teddy & I had to miss most of the Spyder related events SpyderFest/Owners Event/Etc.... due to me having to have back surgery for a ruptured L5S1 disc in my lower back. Just something out of the blue that happened, and I was off from work for almost 2 months & while I still had disability income coming in, it wasn't close to my regular income & with it just being Teddy & myself (along with our pet chinchilla Louie) to say finances got tight is a major understatement. Back in 2010 when we bought our very 1st Spyder, I was able to work as much as I wanted, and did, working 7 days a week 12 hrs a day just to save up the down payment for the Spyder. It wasn't a decision I had control over, I mean, it was a totally irrational purchase but I was so taken the first time I saw one, and knowing that it would be relatively safe for Teddy to ryde, well, I would've done (& did) anything to get one. Then my work (Ford Manufacturing Plant) had to mirror the other renegotiated UAW contracts (even tho Ford didn't file for bankruptsy, we're all represented by the UAW) and had to mirror the GM & Chrysler contracts, and our Plant had to cut our ALL OT:shocked: bringing me down to 40hrs/week and often getting sent home early, not even making 40hrs/week. Then our 1st Spyder from Hell almost bankrupt me, and I lost almost $8 grand when we traded it for the 2011 RT-S we have now, but sense we couldn't trust and had lost ALL faith in our 2010, we had little choice & even tho loosing that much money really hurt, I don't regret the decision, cause its been a night & day difference between the 2 machines. I tell ya, when a dealer knows what their doing when they initially set-up a Spyder, much like Len & the crew at CowTown (now PitBull) does, it makes all the difference in the world. Anyways, to say we've been financially challenged these past couple of years, that would be an understatement. So much so, that I honestly didn't think we'd make any of the events this year, if it hadn't been for credit cards, and we all know where that road leads:sour:. So on this trip, I'll admit, we left home with only $50 in emergency cash and 1 credit card with a $1000 limit. If we didn't have fans of Teddy (like Jeff) that offered to share his hotel room with us for free, we wouldn't have been able to make it. I don't usually mention names, cause there have been many of YOU, Teddy's FANS that have in more ways than one, offered to help us out, and please know, while I may not mention you by name, you really do have our eternal appreciation & gratitude:bowdown:

With that said, now back to our story. So we start making our way thru the vendor villiage and I see a guy sitting out in a camp chair in front of a silver tricked out tear-drop camper and it caught my attention, and I wanted to check it out, but with my head feeling dizzy & my stomach feeling a bit nautious, we didn't even stop and just kept on walking right past.

I look ahead, and one of Teddys fans that we knew from here on SpyderLovers and had met personally at previous events, was smiling broadly and walking towards us with his hand outstretched to shake mine. Now, I'm just a regular kind of back woods/country/redneck/working type of guy (for those that haven't met personally) and in no way do I think of myself as being slick, but I was a little taken aback by our friend, cause as he shook my hand, I realized he had something in his hand that was now in my hand. You know, kind of like when you see some rich guy slide the valet a good tip for taking care of his $100K Mercedes, yeah, kinda like that.

But I was a fish out of water and had never experienced this "handshake" before and was like, "what the heck is this?" And our buddy says to us, something to the effect of, "That's for you and Teddy, I know its been rough lately, and maybe that'll help out a bit. Get Teddy some good treats." he said with that huge grin on his face. Now, humility is not something I'm all that familiar with, and I'll admit, in the moment, I wasn't sure how to react. So many thoughts went racing thru my mind all at once, but even more than that, so many emotions over took me. From a feeling of guilt, shame even that basically here I was not able to financially provide for just myself and my dog, but then relief, hey, we can actually get something to eat, to gratitude, that this is someone we know and that knows us, and our situation, and they want to help.

Overwhelming is a good word to explain it, cause I know my face had to red, and our buddy was "slick" about it, so no one around knew but me, but still, to think, someone that we hardly know, from on here and met a couple of times at events, is just out of the blue offering assistance in a financial manner such as this, and well ................. I gulped, and said "Thank You." We chatted a bit more as we walked thru the parking lot, and I took him out back to show him Teds Red Sled and our Camper and all the different mods that we've done to the sled to make it more suitable for the lil guy to ryde comfortably & safely. I confided that I hadn't really eaten and was getting a bit of a hungry headache, and we said our "Laters" & "Thanks" to our friend, and with no one else around at this time, Teddy & I took the opportunity to sneak off on our own and we went to get something to eat.... for both of us this time :roflblack::roflblack:

We made our way out of the FairGrounds/Stadium Lot where the Vendor Villiage was and hit the highway to get some speed and a nice breeze to help us cool off, and we took the next exit off the highway, showing signs for food, one of which was KFC, so I thought now that we had a bit of funds, we'd get something good to eat, so we headed to the KFC drivethru. Now back home, Teddy has all our local Drive-Thru's trained pretty well, and they'll usually ......................................

Water Works too

Our oldest boxer, Bubba Joe, has the water works installed too. Every time he sees his favorite treat (Bil-Jack) bag come out, down goes the butt, and the water works start. I don't know what they taste like, but they must be heaven for him.

Thanks for sharing how Teddy came to have his hair style....What a great story!!..I would like to have been there when the lady kept saying "but, its a dog"!....little does she know,he is more than a dog!!!!

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 25-Thursday-Vendor Villiage/KFC DriveThru

And once they realize its 'Teddy' in the drive thru, we're usually greeted at the window by a cashier with a BIG GRIN upon their face, and usually a fry/nugget/hotdog/etc.... in one hand and a camera phone in the other & Teddy is just more than ready to pose for a pic, knowing he's got a tasty treat waiting for him. Seriously, while just ryding around town, I'd say he stays seated in his carrier about 70% of the time, but whenever we get around a drive-thru, the pup is standing tall as if at attention, and you can just see the anticipation in his eyes, not to mention, if we ryde around their parking lots looking for a spot to stop, he'll then start in with the water-works even ....... to funny  but the pup has most of our local DTs trained pretty well :yes:and come to think of it, I've never been offered my own hotdog .......... for free  heck, I'd even give them a HI5 if they gave me a free hotdog  but I guess its just not the same :lecturef_smilie: ...................... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

So we order at the DT of the KFC there in SpringField (or wherever we were) and as soon as we get to the window, BOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! It happens again, even here, some 600 odd miles away from home :p the Huge grin on the young ladies face was priceless, cause I thought her eyes were going to bulge out of her head, as she just kept staring at Teddy, standing and pose'n, donning his Viper Red Mow-Hawk and matching Doggles, she just couldn't believe what she was seeing  And Teddy, being the Ham-Bone that he is, has the routine down, so even without asking, he starts HI5'n in mid-air, saying look, I'm doing the trick so gimme my treat :p
And the young lady calls out to all her co-workers, "OMG!!! C'mehere, You gotta see this!" When asked why he's batting the air with his paw, I explain that if they give him a treat, like a fry, and hold there hand close enough for the little guy to reach it, that he'll give them a Hi5, and boom, like 3 of the co-workers disappear and are back in moments, all with a fry & a camera phone now in hand, and like an assembly line, Teddy gives them their Hi5's, poses for a pic and gets a treat, one after the other :doorag: doing what he can to satisfy the masses:ohyea:

A little backstory is in order here:
In a former life, my first job at 16 was as a dishwasher at Pizza Hut & I worked my way all the up to being an Operations Manager and one of the original team that undertook the challenge of Tricons (parent Company) newer Multi-Branding concepts, like 2n1's & even 3n1's where you'd have 2 or 3 menus available all from one unit, seeing as Tricon was/is made up of PizzaHut, KFC & Taco Bell. Talking about a madhouse, our first ever unit, which I think is still standing, is in Clearwater Florida and at the time of our opening, way back in 1999 we even tried delivery as well, tho we quickly found Taco's don't deliver well at all, and had to limit delivery to only PizzaHut & KFC but that still proved to be a very popular combination...........

Anyways, with my prior QSR experience, I'm always mindful when Teddy & I go thru a drivethru about the managements expectations & time goals of the window, and am always worried that Teddy is going to get someone in trouble, cause as you can imagine, we're not usually a quick grab n go, but its usually not 'OUR' fault:lecturef_smilie: but that of the enamored employees jockey'n for Hi5's & pics of the lil star :doorag: tho to be honest, usually the Managers are right there with them as well:rolleyes: But still, I know we kill their DT times, and some QSR's base Managers bonus & incentive pays on window #'s among other things, and that's the last thing I want to happen, is to cause someone to loose money because of Teddy & I. Our job, as I see it, is to bring happiness & joy to all those that we meet :2thumbs: not anything negative, that's for dang sure :opps:

Tho to be honest, Teddy even has one MGR at a local DT so enthrawed with him, that he gets his own bowl of chicken slid into our order on the 'down-low' every time she's there ................. for free  You can bet, Teddy really LOVES that lady  .................... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 26-Thursday-Vendor Villiage/KFC dinner

After Teddy finally gets done pleasing all his new fans in the KFC drive-thru, we take our meal and I find a nice parking spot in their lot under a nice big shade tree and we proceed to dismount and have a nice relaxing few minutes to ourselves (so I thought) to eat our dinner. Since we had the camper in tow, I decided to open up the rear
attachment.php
cause it makes a nice seating bench area and we can set our food and drinks down and eat more comfortably. Well, y'all already know where this is leading ................ right? :dontknow:

Sure enough, not even 5 minutes go by and we have a couple of curious ppl come over to see what they can see. They had no clue about Teddy yet, as he was sitting inside the rear of the camper with me, so he was blocked from view for the most part, but this couple had just eaten at the KFC and were about to leave after eating, and I guess the Spyder and Camper Combo caught their attention, and they just had to check it out. I had parked long ways under the shade tree at the rear of the lot, so the ppl didn't even know Teddy & I were in the rear of the camper and I could here them talking with each other about what they were looking at and as they made their way further back and around, Teddy barked rather loudly and I do believe the young lady probably needed a change of undies after that cause she litterally let out a scream of shock :yikes: and I'll be honest, I was almost in tears from laughing so dang hard, but I could see the look of shock in the poor girls face and she wasn't all that amused :sour:

But then, once she caught sight of Teddy, that frown :( turned upside down and all was right with the world once again :p and she had a HUGE GRIN on her face as well as her (I'm guessing) boyfriend that was with her. He laughed too at her sudden shock of surprise, so I was glad I wasn't the only one, tho I bet he was in the dog-house once they got home ... :roflblack: We played the 20 questions game and I gave her a potatoe wedge, so she could 'bribe' Teddy into giving her a couple of Hi5's and her bf took a couple of pics of her & Teddy together :ohyea: along with making the comment, "You know I gotta post this on FaceBook, right?" To which I just replied with my regular standby of, "I'm sure this dog is on more ppl's FaceBook pages than any other dog in the world, so sure, go ahead." I said with a laugh ... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: But its most probably true .....

Anyways, we finish with them and they say their thanks as they take their leave, and with my head no longer hurting, and our bellies nice and full, a warm feeling flowed over me. Kind of hard to explain, but it was a feeling of wellness, of goodness, of satisfaction .......... like when you know that you just made someone's day so much better for them ........... that kinda feeling ;)

Dave, on a side note, when you used the color changing paint, was that from AlsaCorp or a different company? I am thinking of using it on my rims? thanks

This would look sharp on a Blue Spyder, but not so much on a Viper Red ..............

Dave, on a side note, when you used the color changing paint, was that from AlsaCorp or a different company? I am thinking of using it on my rims? thanks

Just a word of caution, unlike Plasti-Dip, this stuff is Paint, so its a permanant application:doorag: Although, if you did it, and didn't really like it, you could always Plasti-dip over top of it without an issue ;)

Tho I really think this would look awesome on the rims of a Blue Spyder, especially the brighter blue:thumbup: It really pops, especially when the sun hits it

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 26-Thursday-Vendor Villiage / Off to the races

So now with both our tummies full and both in a much better mood, I set the GPS to take us back to the Vendor Villiage and off we go, cause we needed to catch back up with our buddy & travel-mate Jesse, as he was still there having something that he bought from one of the Vendors installed on his Spyder, and we didn't see him before we left, so we had just kind of snuck off on our own  and needed to catch back up with him.

Once we got back and located Jesse, we figured it about time to head out to the Race Track for the Spyder track day :ohyea:2013 was the first year for SpyderFest to be held in this new location of SpringField MO instead of Cuba MO like in years past, but with Len opening his own Spyder/BRP dealership there in SpringField, and him and the MoGang being the ones to put the entire shin-dig on, it only made sense to move the location of the Fest, especially since, with each passing year we're adding more and more new Spyder Owners, and everyone knows SpyderFest is the Number One Spyder Event :firstplace: to attend, dare I say, even more popular than the BRP Owners Event even. And while I think most would agree that the little town of Cuba was an awesome host:bowdown: for the early years of SpyderFest, the reality is, the Fest just outgrew the city with many goers having to travel to nearby cities to get hotel accomodations etc....... I know for Teddy & I tho, Cuba will always retain a special place in our hearts

Teddy & I, for one reason or another, had visited Cuba around 5 or 6 times thru the past few years of Spyder ownership, and knew our way around the little town of Cuba pretty well, but the same couldn't be said of SpringField. We had only been to Len's new dealership once prior to this event, and that was when we rented a call and drove there and back the same day for his Grand Opening, which we were Happy to be a part of. So needless to say, we didn't know the SpringField area at all and we quickly found a group of other Spyder Owners that were also about to leave the Vendor Villiage & head to the RaceTrack, and we made a caravan of it, that grew longer and longer as we went. I think we originally started out with 3 or 4 of us, then we met up with others in-route and joined in and this just kept happening until we had a good 15 or 20 Spyders in total all happily whizzing down the expressway, all anxious to witness something none of us had likely seen before ....... Spyders actually racing on a track  :ohyea::doorag: I'm sure their were some in this group that may had ridden their Spyders on a track, like in Daytona, but I'm pretty sure you couldn't actually race them there at that event. Here, it was no holds barred, anyone and anything goes (within reason) but I mean there were stock classes, turbo classes, amature classes, advanced, and even Spyders towing a trailer class ....... which all were fun to see

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 27-Thursday- Off to the races

After a while of following our ever growing Spyder caravan down the expressway, we start seeing blinkers flashing from just about every Spyder up ahead of us, looking something like a Christmas Tree ready to explode, but it meant we were getting closer to our destination, and taking our leave of the expressway. Now, I think you can imagine what people along the expressway had to be thinking at seeing such a sight, 15-20 Spyders of all different colors and all different types (RS/ST/RT) and many were tricked out and pulling trailers and then of course, there's Teddy & I pulling a camper thats actually bigger than our byke  ........... :roflblack:

On the road (as well as in a campground) that camper garners alot of attention and we've become accustomed to having ppl on the road initially go blowing right past us, but then, slowing down and catching a better look as we catch up to them. Well, this was no exception, with it happening over and over again :doorag: bad thing is, when on a two lane highway, you can really screw up the traffic pattern and piss alot of ppl off when others decide to slow all those behind them down, just so they can snap a pic or two, or god forbid, they break out their Iphone's and match our speed and start video'n us  seemingly oblivious if there are 20 cars behind them wanting to pass  Such was the case in this scenario:sour: so I was glad that we had finally reached the turnoff from the highway, cause I know while Teddy & I aren't the ones that are actually slowing everyone else down ........ directly  ....... we ARE the cause of it :lecturef_smilie: indirectly.... :opps: and I hate when that happens :sour:

Anyways, we join the caravan and pull off the highway onto one of MO's fine winding country side roads that ultimately leads to the Race Track, and we had a good time just ryding on that side road. Upon reaching the entrance to the race track, there was already a steady stream of Spyders in two lines leading thru the front gates, where we all had to sign a form or waiver I believe if we were racing or not. Luckily for us, while patiently awaiting our turn at the gate, one of our SpyderLovers hero's rydes up next to us in the other line and Teddy & I got to once again meet the Legendary MurphyBrown (AKA:Karyl) and we got to chit chat & catch up a bit while easing thru the long line. Was so good to see her again, as the last time (if memory serves me correctly) was in the parking lot of (what has to be) the worlds smallest WalMart there in Cuba MO back at the 2011 SpyderFest  I tell ya, seeing old friends is one of the best parts of these events :2thumbs: along of course, with meeting new ones :2thumbs:

So Teddy & I make our way thru the lines and end up parking close to the back of the parking lot, seeing as we had our Camper in tow, we didn't want to take up too much room up front, and being in the rear of the lot usually means having easier access once leaving ;) As we pull to a stop, and I begin the shutting down process, I notice a sweet looking burnt orange RS-S pull up and park along side of us, and low and behold, I'm taken aback at the sight before me

For the past two years, I had been wanting to meet Faran, the only female Spyder Ambassador that BRP had, but for one reason or another, at all the different events, we had always missed each other. We both attended PitBulls Grand Opening, and her kids even came along, hoping to get to meet Teddy in person, after seeing so many of his pics here on SpyderLovers, but sadly, they had left 2 hours before Teddy & I had gotten there :banghead:

At first, I didn't realize it was even her, but as soon as the young lady on the burnt orange RS-S removed her helmet, well, ummmmmmm......... :opps: lets just say, Faran is one Very Attractive Young Lady ...;)...Very easy on the eyes as they say .... & then it clicked, after I got done initially drooling  who it was that I was looking at :dontknow: OMG !!! That's Faran :doorag:  :ohyea:  :2thumbs: ;) WOOOOO HOOOOO we finally got to meet. And wow, after talking with her for a little bit, it became clear that BRP couldn't have made a better choice for a New Ryder Ambassador than Faran, and I really don't understand why they didn't keep her nor Mickey on, but that's another topic for a different discussion. After we chatted, we went our seperate ways, as I think Faran has just as many (if not more) fans as Teddy has, and as Teddy & I have learned, with fame comes the being pulled in many different directions all at once, and such was the case with both Teddy & her

So Teddy and I made our way to the front area of the race-track and we could already hear the loud sounds of Spyders engines reving wildly and ppl doing burn-outs to get their tires hot so they would stick on take off instead of just spinning in place, and this brought about my initial lack of thinking this thru:lecturef_smilie: Now mind you, I had no plans at all to actually race Teds Red Sled at the track, especially with a fully loaded camper on the hitch. Doing so, would've just made us the laughing stock :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: of having the absolute worst time at the track, and frankly, that's not what Teddy wants ppl to remember about him :doorag: ...... But what I didn't think thru, is how sensitive Teddy's (or any dog's for that matter) hearing is, and I didn't realize just how loud the burn-outs were, not to mention many of the after-market mufflers on many of the RS's and you could tell Teddy didn't like it and he would litterally bend down his usually upright ears, down and back, alerting me there's an issue  that quickly became evident nojoke DOAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I didn't think this one thru ...... at all ....... now did I :lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie:

Ahhh yes, discomfort as much as there might have been with his ears, Teddy's nose quickly took over once he got a whiff of the hot dogs and hamburgers that were being served up, and his ears readily went back to attention, noise be damned :bbq:this pup wanted some bar-b-que :bbq: so we immediately made our way to the serving line  or I should say in all honesty ..... I followed along as he dragged me to the source of the smell that his tummy desired  .............:roflblack:

For the past 5 years now, I've really worked with Teddy's training, but the one thing that he really has a problem with, as do many of us, myself included :opps: ............... is patience :banghead: Like having to wait our turn in line for food, he just doesn't understand it :banghead: You'd think I was torturing the poor little guy the way he acts :chill: but he know's how to work the crowd and was able to get a chip here or a small piece of a bun there thrown to him by those that had already gone before us, and those at the tables close by the waiting lines that were already eating their meals :ohyea: and I have to admit, when it comes to chow-time, this pup can really put on a show when he wants to :ohyea: without being asked, he'll sit at attention, staring your food down, and just sit there, and if you don't pay him any attention, he'll bark at you, as if to say, "Hey! Look at me! I'm being good and sitting patiently, so give me some of your food!!! ..... NOW!!!" :roflblack: It is cute to watch, but I really don't condone it, as it can become bothersome to someone who doesn't see the cuteness in it :chill: So I try to keep him under good control, but when in a situation such as this, hey, its a party, so party on

We get our plate with both a burger and dog and bag of chips and a nice cold drink and we make our way over to a pik-nik table that had a few open spots, cause I knew we'd need a little extra room with the way that Teddy eats, and I didn't want him to be bothering someone sitting right next to us for their food, or god forbid, him trying to sneak a bite from a plate in close enough proximity ........ :opps: it has happenend before :opps:

For the most part, Teddy does have very good table manners and as long as he knows he's going to be getting fed, he will listen and pay attention to my commands  .......... or I should say........... to those commands given by whomever has the food ....... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: meaning, if you've got the food, and the pup is hungry, he won't listen to a word I say at that time, and he'll look to you like your god

We even joke, whenever my buddy stops by our condo, Teddy goes nuts and he acts like god is there, cause my buddy brings special treats for Teddy whenever he comes, and Teddy has been, in effect, trained to become HIS servant whenever he comes over  It is a sight to see ....

So we go about chit-chat'n with those around us, while I'm feeding the pup and sneaking in my own bites every now and then, and when we're just about finished and Teddy has posed for many pics from passersby, then out of the blue we hear this BOOOOOOMMMMMMIIIIIINNNNGGG VOICE !!! "YO DAVE, YOU'VE JUST GOTTA TRY THESE ON MY FRIEND!" in a kind of heavy North Eastern (Vermont) accent.

As soon as I heard the voice, I knew it was Mike (AKA:BlueKnight911) from here on SpyderLovers and we had also gotten to meet and camp and ryde with at the previous years Spyders In The Adirondacks (SITA) in UpState New York. Teddy fell in love with Mike on that camping trip:bowdown: cause Mike & the group had gone out to a nice diner one evening, and he had brought back a Filet Mignon ..... for TEDDY!!! Seriously..... I have pics of Mike cutting it up and Teddy dancing for joy for a piece. I tell ya, that pup had steak and eggs for breakfast and just about anything he wanted on that trip :ohyea: So Teddy was already very smitten with Mike :p

Anyways, Mike throws down a pair of dark grey gloves on the table in front of me, and instructs me to try them on, that they were the solution for any winter or wet ryding conditions that I may ever have. So I do as instructed and was really impressed with how they felt. While I'm trying them on, Mike explains that they were a neoprene type of Ice fishing glove that are made to keep your hands dry and warm, and in just trying them on, they seemed like they would do just that. Mike continues on, "Dave, you'll never guess where I got these babies and for how much, but go on, try to guess." he taunts me in a joking, boisterous way (that's just Mike) So I was clueless and just look at him with that lost look in my eyes, while others (and everyone around for that matter) chime in with guesses of places and prices, guessing in the $50-$75 range, and Mike finally continues............ "Believe it or not, WalMart and for only $13.95." WOW, needless to say, everyone within ear-shot was a little shocked by this news :dontknow: finding it hard to believe :lecturef_smilie: But Mike insisted, that's where he got them, and he had tried them for a bit before it really got warm, and they worked like a charm. Needless to say, and we're getting there with our story, but this set off a whole other chain of events the following day:rolleyes:

So after the gloves introduction, Mike proceeds to introduce Teddy and I to his new GirlFriend and now, fellow Spyder Ryder... Dee  It was so good to finally meet her, as Mike had told me all about her in our private communications thru PM'n here on SpyderLovers, and I already knew how happy that she made Mike, so any friend of Mikes is a friend of ours, and Teddy started schmooz'n right away with her  Told ya, this dog is a player, didn't I  ...... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 27-Thursday- Off to the races=Continued

After our encounter with Mike talking about the gloves (and everyone around heard) Teddy & I hung around with Dee for a bit chit-chat'n while Mike was busy running his RT down the race-track. This didn't last too long for us however, cause with Teddy's tummy once again full, the loud noise from all the After-Market exhausts and the burn-outs were really bothering the little guys ears, so I knew I needed to get him to a safer area that wasn't so loud, and we said so long to Dee.

We hung around the back of the main building for a few minutes, hoping the building would block some of the sound and to watch a few of the races, cause it was a site to be seen, that's for sure. After about 30 more minutes of Teddy schmooz'n with fans and pose'n for pics, it started getting dark and by this time, we had caught back up with Jesse and figured it best that we start getting ready to head back to the hotel.

As soon as that sun went down, the temperature really and unexpectedly started to drop and quickly it did. So we headed back to the bykes and started to gear up in our warm weather gear for the chilly ryde back to the hotel & I noticed my cell phone was just about dead, so I plugged it in to the 12 volt socket in the rear trunk of Teds Red Sled to let it charge and just then I noticed another Spyder Owner close by was having trouble getting their byke to start. Seeing this, I took a break from gearing up, and not thinking, left the phone charging without the byke running, and Teddy sitting in his carrier on the passenger seat and I went to offer any assistance that I could, not that I'm any type of mechanic. After a few minutes of playing around with different things, their Spyder happily roared to life and all was well again.

I headed back over to Teds Red Sled where he was entertaining a small crowd that had gathered around in passing by, and low and behold, there, once again was Faran. This time, we actually got to talk and she even agreed to pose for some pics with Teddy and her both sitting on her sweet looking RS-S. She had to stop mid-way thru to take a call from her kids that were back home, and while I was being the Poperazi (sp?) for a change, I could over hear her talking with her kids, making sure they did all their homework and even saying a prayer together over the phone as they were getting tucked into bed ....... :firstplace: Such a Good Mom

I hope she doesn't mind, but I thought I'd go ahead and post the pics and share them here with everyone, especially since we really didn't get very many pics on this trip at all. At least the ones we did take, were something nice to look at ........:opps: I'm sure if she does mind, she'll say something & I'll delete them right away ;)

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 27-Thursday-After the races

So after Teddy finished schmooze'n with Faran, and the chill was settling into the air, we all decided to head back to our respective hotels when I realize, I have no clue where our hotel actually is & Jesse was following us cause we had the GPS, but I hadn't put in the address nor the coordinates of the hotel.... Oh No!!! Faran hears me and says no problem, if your at Americas Best, or Best Western, there all right next to each other so you guys can just follow us, cause we're all headed back to the same area ..... cool!

I know there has been a long break in me telling this tale, but if you look back or remember, the hotel that we were originally staying at with Jeff from Florida was (in his words & I fully agreed) NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! So he had gone across the street and made a reservation at that hotel for the next day, but Teddy and I had been out this entire day and hadn't caught up with Jeff yet, and hadn't stopped at the new hotel, so I wasn't really sure about where Teddy & I were staying that night. The evening before, our first night there, Jeff & I exchanged cell numbers and emails, and he told me that he'd text me the info, and I remembered this and checked, and sure enough, there was his text with the new room number at the hotel across the street. The bad one was Americas (NOT SO) Best and I believe the new one, which was directly across the street was the Best Western, but my memory is foggy about the name, so it could've been another chain, but reguardless of the name, it was directly across the street.

So Teddy & I ended up being directly behind Faran and Jesse was following directly behind us all the way back to our hotel. Now I have to tell you, knowing that Faran was a brand new ryder to any type of motorcycle, I had the presumption in my head that she would be relatively weak on her ryding skills, seeing as she had been ryding for a little over a year in total at this time. And you can usually tell the new ryders out there on the road, especially if your following directly behind one, cause they make many of the same mistakes when ryding, like taking a curve to slow or fast, not following the apex, following the ryder in front to close or too far back breaking up the group, etc...... I'm sure many of you know and understand what I'm talking about all too well.

Well, let me tell you, that thought completely left my mind about Faran after following her for just a few miles. I mean, I had only been ryding for about 3 years myself and I was doing well to keep up with this lady. Granted, she was solo on an RS-S & Teddy & I was snail'n it with a 2 year old RT-S pulling a 400 pound camper, but we're usually pretty good at either setting a spirited pace and keeping up or leading for that matter. I mean, we've followed directly behind Lamonster, and did a pretty good job of keeping up with him all thru the Dragon and the HellBender 2 years ago, so I'd like to think we do pretty good to hold our own. Yet, here I was, in awe of her ryding ability, cause if I hadn't known her history of being totally new less than 2 years ago, I woulda thought for sure she had been ryding all her life. Seriously, the lady can ryde and she has tallent & skills  that betray her experience to say the least

So we make it back to the group of hotels, and I point Jesse to go across the street to Americas Best where he was staying and Teddy & I head across the street to the Best Western where we were now staying with Jeff. The lot being full, we just parked on the outside of the front awning right at the front door, cause their really wasn't any other choices, seeing as we had our camper in tow as well. As soon as we pull to a stop, the usual happens, and a pretty young lady with a camera phone in hand approaches and you could see the 'puppy luv' in her eyes, as she was just smitten with Teddy and finding what she was seeing hard to believe. She was a fellow Spyder Owner, however, I'm not sure if she is actually on SpyderLovers, cause Teddy was totally new to her and most SpyderLovers, if they haven't met Teddy in person yet, most still know about or have seen pics of him, but she hadn't. The entire time I was de-gearing myself and Teddy and trying to get all our stuff that we needed to take into the hotel with us, she was just ooooooo'n & aaaaaaaaah'n with Teddy & you know him, he was just eat'n it up :ohyea:

So I finally get what's needed unloaded and in my arms, and with Teddy on his leash, we make our way to the front doors of this new hotel for us, and WOW!!! What a greeting!!! Teddy was well known by many of the Spyder Owners that had gathered to chit-chat and talk in the hotel lobby each night before heading off to bed, and as soon as we walked thru those doors, You could hear ppl cheer'n, YAY, TEDDY'S HERE !!!! HE MADE IT!!! Talking about a Party atmosphere :joke::ohyea:

Not knowing what to expect from the front receptionist, I make my way up to the counter while Teddy is pulling the full length of his lead so he can schmooze with his many fans, and I look at the young lady & just wonder to myself what she must be thinking  Cause many hotels have a no pet policy, I wasn't sure what to expect, and if I'd have to go thru the entire education with her about Service Dogs being allowed and if it was even going to be an issue or not. But, luckily for us, Jeff had already taken care of all that. Once at the counter, before I even said a word, she says "You must be Dave & I bet that's just got to be Teddy, right?" I just laugh and nod my head in disbelief that she actually knew who we were, and I was kind of dumbfounded how she knew. She then hands me a keycard and explains that our roomy had already explained everything to her and that she had been excited and wanting to meet the little Red MowHawked dog that rydes a Spyder all day long  I just laughed and pulled Teddy away from his fans so I could introduce him to the nice young lady that was taking care of us so well. And as if on cue, he turns on the charm and starts schmooze'n right away with her, and once again, he has taken anothers heart and she is smitten with him as he is with her.

After a few more minutes, she points down the hall and instructs us that our room is ground level and right past the rec room and breakfast room, so I gather our belongings, and start dragging Teddy with me, departing him from his many adoring fans. While going past the rec room, which had a bunch of Spyder Ryders in it enjoying each others company and telling tales and having a drink or two, Teddy goes running right into the middle of the mix. Me being so tired tho, and I once again here the cheers of "Hey, Teddy's In The House!" and all the HooPlah starts over again. But this time, I digress and apologize to everyone in there about how tired and worn out that we (at least me) are, and that we need to hit the hay, but promised to return on the following evening to let everyone catch up with Teddy.

SpyderFest2013 The NEW Adventure-Chap 28- FRIDAY- Oh what a journey

So we head to our room, which I have to admit, was SO MUCH BETTER than the other room that we had at the hotel across the street, and Jeff was already there watching a bit of TV and catching up on his Ipad. We talk about the days events, and whats up next on tomorrows agenda, all awhile, Teddy plays fetch with Jeff tossing around one of his chew-toys and the two have a good time doing it. We finally get settled in, and calmed down, and I think Jeff said I was quite quick to fall asleep, along with a bit of snoring ..... I snore??? I had no clue??? Just being me & Teddy, he's never complained once about it, so I really had no clue ......:roflblack:

So we awake on Friday morning, and I'm a little perplexed, cause Teddy (as usual) curled up next to my chest when we fell asleep, but upon waking, he was no where to be found :yikes: Seems my snoring got to the little guy, and he left my bed and decided to cuddle & snooze with Jeff .......... instead of me nojoke Jeff said that he must have jumped over to his bed half way thru the night, and just stayed there ............. the little traitor :( ........................ :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

So after I brush off my hurt feelings (just kid'n:rolleyes:) Jeff & I check out the weather channel to see what this Friday was going to be like and come to find, OH!!! what a rainy *ss Friday its going to be :chill: We both watch the local radar for a while, and it shows nothing but bad news for the entire day, some deluge of cats & dogs some moderate and some light, but pretty much, an entire day of rain  So now what do we do :dontknow:

Well, since both Jeff and I had somehow mysteriously lost our antenaes off our Spyders, we decided to see if we could talk Jesse into taking us in his truck (so we'd be dry:rolleyes:) to a local shop so we could find replacements. This is when I also told Jeff about those gloves (remember those gloves?) that Mike had so boisterously shown me the night before, and how warm and waterproof they were & could be found at WalMart for only like $13 and he was in, he wanted a pair as well. So I called Jesse up and asked what his plans for the day were and he said whatever our plans were, so I asked about him being our chaeffeur, and using his truck to drive us around town so we could locate 2 antenaes and those Ice Fishing Gloves at WallyWorld, and Jesse was all for it. Within a few minutes, our chaeffeur was right out front of the doors of the lobby, under the canopy so we wouldn't get wet.

As Jesse came in to get us, Jeff & I were already in the front lobby area chit-chat'n with many of Teddys fans, and Teddy was being an attention wh*re like usual  and pose'n for pics and schmooze'n and get'n rub downs from just about everyone he met :ohyea: We explained our plans to Jesse, and as we were about to take our leave, one of Teddy's fans that we had been chit chat'n with asked if we had room for one more, and that with it being a rainy day, he wasn't planning on ryding, so he as might as well head out and share our adventure as well:clap: Sure, why not, we got the room, and so the 4 of us, along with The Tedster as Supervisor and Jesse as Chaeffeur headed out on an epic adventure, I truly think, none of us will likely forget ..................... for a long time to come............

Ear Muffs

....the loud noise from all the After-Market exhausts and the burn-outs were really bothering the little guys ears....

Dave .... I know Teddy wears "doggles" for his eyes. Does any one make ear muffs for dogs ("muffles")?

Best Regards .... Ann

Yes Ann, they do & they are called MuttMuffs & here's a link:
http://www.safeandsoundpets.com/index.html

From my understanding, they were originally made for dogs that fly, like in airplanes, cause of the severe noise hurting a dogs sensitive hearing, and they are suppose to work very well for most dogs.

Teddy on the other hand, isn't like most dogs :lecturef_smilie: and he absolutely despises anything on his head, be it a hat, helmet, or anything of the sort. Not sure why exactly, I've always assumed it was just a vanity thing  and he doesn't want to muss-up or block the view of his nojoke Viper Red MowHawk :doorag: The doggles are even a struggle at times, but he knows the rules and usually abides by them .................

Hope that link helps..............

Dave, I can testify to Faran's ryding skills. She pays attention, even when the nut in front of her (me) does something foolish!
