There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

:banghead::opps: Too bad Teddy can't send me back in time to last week when I started all this tho :opps::banghead:

;)We managed to get the Frunk off just a few minutes ago and I can now say:thumbup:

 I've seen parts of Teds Red Sled that I thought I'd never see

:yikes:Once I stepped back and actually took in all of what was before me:yikes:

:barf:I was actually nauseous at the site of the enormity of it all :barf:

:pray:I am living and learning, thats for sure:pray:

All will be okay. :) Remember to breathe.:) I wish I had this wealth of mechanical expertise, but sadly I have none and so, have nothing to offer except my support. However, there are many folks who are knowledgeable and won't steer you wrong with their guidance and suggestions. It will be okay.

Good for you Dave! I am sure it will all be worth while, when Teddy and you are back riding! It will also help the rest of us that will need to do these things later.:clap:

Sort of like taking one for the team Dave:roflblack: Rar is already planning my wrenching experiences, no pun intended, and when I finish I'll be saying one thing:shemademe_smilie:

Here are 76 pics of the Insanity that IS Teds Red Sled ......... Sans Tupperware

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=2368

I'm sure you've heard talk about the 'Grease Fittings' as I have thru the years, but I've honestly never seen one on the Spyder til now and there are 8 of them & I took pics of them all (albeit dirty) located on the front upper & lower suspension, but well hidden by the Frunk, which we finally got removed last night  We still have the AirBox to remove then we'll get everything cleaned up the best we can so we can begin the actual work of doing the mods.

;)There are even a few pics with Teddy scattered about :p

trunk

Doesn't the trunk come off as a unit? :dontknow: I thought I seen once where it came off without taken it off piece by piece. Sure would make that job a little easier. :banghead: Hope someone could give us a clue or video that helps with that if true.

Its a learning process for all of us

Never doing it before, this was a learning experience for me, so I'm actually glad that I took it apart the way I did, so I could see and better understand all the insides like the "Lower Air Intake Ducts" among other things. Plus we're doing the HID FogLight upgrades as well, so I wanted to remove the entire Fog Light Assembly so I could take it in the house and do it inside instead of dealing with it in the garage, so that's why I had to remove all the surround Tupperware upfront.

I'm sure you could remove the entire Frunk fully assembled, tho you'd have to at least loosen (if not totally remove) both headlight assemblies to get to the 4 top bolts that hold the Frunk on at the top (#'s 36 on the schematic) then remove all the hardware holding the "Skid Plate" (#53) on, then the 2 (#37) bolts at the bottom, then unplug all the wiring harnesses and all the hardware holding the latch mechanism for the Electronic Opener, and it should be able to slide right off:shocked: :roflblack:
When we go to reassemble everything, I'll find out for sure;) and share with y'all

That's cool, I started to do that once just to see what was under the Tupperware. And got frustrated at it and put it back. One day I will need to go back and do this again myself and I'm hoping there was an easier way.

I totally agree with you ............If only ........................................

Once you get the airbox off I doubt if you will want to put it back on.
Seriously consider the Kewl Metal optionQUOTE]

Dave before you jump on that windshield you should consider the Calsci. It's $150 less and in several sizes. We like it, hopefully you and Teddy will too.

NO worries of me 'Jumping' on anything like that any time soon:banghead: My next 'BIG' purchase has got to be new rubber for Teds Red Sled to roll on. We've got everything needed now to get the bearings & seals changed out thanks to Doc-Riverside for ALL of his help so far:bowdown: But since the rear is flat with a cut and both fronts are worn at 34,000 miles, that's gotta be the priority for now:opps:

But believe me, I've done a lot of research about the Cal-Sci shield, and when the time comes (if ever) that will definately be the way we go:thumbup:

My buddy stopped by today. . . just to see the progress

:thumbup:Said he was impressed:shocked: with what he saw:shocked: as he's always been there for all our Spyder mods and they've always been done in his garage;) til now:rolleyes: He couldn't believe I was able to get Teds Red Sled as apart as I have it at this moment:shocked: up in the air with NO RUBBER to touch the ground:yikes: Still so much to do, but progressing little by little every day;) tho I have to admit, Teddy & I are both dealing with severe Spyder withdrawal:(nojoke

Unrelated curve ball for the Tedster* that road to hell is paved with good intentions

So a couple of weeks ago, while we were at PetsMart getting Teddies HypoAlergenic food I asked one of the associates if they could recommend a good dental treat that would also help with freshening his breath. I failed to tell the associate about Teddies food alergies when I made this inquiry and was recommended the Greenies dental treats, which I bought and started giving him that night. A sad side effect of his HypoAlerginic dog food diet is that it gives him "doggy breath" that none of us really like, hence the reason for my inquiry about something to help "freshen" his breath. Not thinking that a small treat would effect Teddies diet that drastically, I didn't get the connection when he started scratching like he was infected with poison ivy or something. I mean, he'd act like something bit him and would start biting at whatever site was bothering him. I promptly gave him his monthly dose of FrontLine a week earlier, just in case he had picked up a flea or something from one of our many visits. Sadly, this had no effect, and he's been biting at himself and scratching, so much that he's caused bald spots and even a couple of scabbed areas. I felt so bad last night, cause he couldn't even sleep cause he was constantly digging and scratching, so we went to the vet today. After a thorough check, no evidence of fleas, we decuced down that it has to be his alergies going into overdrive due to me giving him thoses dental treats, which I've stopped and now he's on an antibiotic steroid combo to help him deal with his alergic reaction. I mean, I can just rub his back and his entire body will shudder cause he's SO sensitive right now. It will take a little time and a little more nurturing than normal, but this too shall pass. Self inflicted wounds may not count, but just ask Teddy, as they sure as hell, still DO itch :banghead::sour::chill:

Teddy

Poor little guy. Rubbing olive oil on his skin could help any dry skin he may have and just might help with the itching.

Ref Teddies Withdrawal symptoms - Maybe the Stress of not riding on the Spyder has not helped his recent medical problem
He seems such a sensitive kind of guy

Always nice to view this post and hope you are both will be on the Road to recovery (Wherever that is - Most be a place in the States somewhere)

Thanks for the update

Yeah, I was wondering if this could be related to his Spyder Withdrawal Symptoms

As they say, addictions are a B:cus:H!!! But we're dealing with it the best we can:chill:

Now we're dealing with the age old problem between time and money:gaah: I've been getting sent home from work early every day now for the past week and a half, due to a key machines motor going out and waiting for the replacement to get in. So now I've got the time to work on all the different mods, and have been doing so little by little every day, learning as we go.

But now with having the additional time, I have even less money to spend on the needed tools and supplies that are needed to do all these different mods. Key lesson here to those of you that are following along and learning with us is, if your just starting and learning to do all of your own maintenance and Mods, there's going to be lots of different and unique tools and supplies that your going to need to have or at least access to, to do the aformentioned Mods and maintenance.

So, in the long run, YES, we will save money by learning to do most of these things ourselves, but with never doing them before, there's still a financial burden to amass the needed tools for the job. Tho some, like a bearing puller can be rented for free from your local auto parts store, or better yet, borrowed from a buddy (Thanks Doc) that already has it and doesn't mind lending it to you.

We've now got all the bearings pulled from the rear wheel, hub and sprocket:thumbup: and last night, I removed the GloRyders from the front wheels and took them off of Teds Red Sled, leaving it up in the air on the jack, sans any rubber at all. So now we're to the point of getting new rubber installed all the way around for the Spyder. I'm thinking of taking them with us to TireDiscounters where we originally got our car tires from for the Cougar and seeing if there's any deals they can give us for the Spyder Tires while we're their getting the Cougars tires balanced and rotated, which they do for free when you purchase a set from them, like we did with the cougar a few years back.

There are so many choices out there, that it makes my head spin. Thinking since we ryde daily and all winter long, if I should actually get a set of winter tires for now, and then when spring rolls around, get an All Weather or Summer set, any suggestions?:dontknow::hun:

:lecturef_smilie:Unfortunately, when I get overwhelmed, I procrastinate and that's where I'm at right now.
:gaah:

Todays Adventure has us removing the dreaded @!#$@#%^%&* AirBox

How long did it take you to pop the bearing. Hope they came out like butter. The interesting part will be is did they go back in like butter?Doc
:opps:Ummmmm....... I'll give you a call tomorrow after work to discuss this :opps:
:shocked:Lets just say for now, butter wasn't involved doc :opps:

:shocked:Here's a link to whats left of Teds Red Sled ............. notice how there's more of it in the living room now than in the garage :yikes:

:shocked:Here's a sample:shocked:
