Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

JUST TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION- TEDDY & I ARE NOT GOING TO THE OWNERS EVENT

We had every intention on attending, but it was just NOT possible for us to make it this year to Durango. I know we have disappointed a great many of you & for that I apologize.

:thumbup:Hopefully we'll still get to meet up at the KY Lake Ryde or SITA or Lamonts Bar-B-Q

OK, so we're on for the Ryde for the Runts tomorrow

There is always the "Ride for the Runts" charity run Saturday... check the Cincyspiders group forum.
Kagey

Alright Kagey, Teddy & I will meet up with ya at the American Legion there in Milford around 10 or 10:30ish tomorrow. Tho I have no clue where it is, guess its a good thing Teddy had me install that GPS for him. One way or another, we'll see you in the am

Back to "Teddy's Tail"

So now we're going to fast forward a couple of years from when I got Teddy in 2008 and we find ourselves in April of 2010 and I'm leaving work after a long day of slaving away at the plant. It was an ordinary day like thousands of others that had come before it, that is til something flashy catches my eye in the parking lot.

"What the hell is that thing? Looks like someone souped up an ATV and lost one of it's wheels." Is what I was thinking to myself as I laid my eyes on the very first Spyder RS that I had ever seen. At this time, I hadn't even seen a commercial nor had ever even heard about this crazy looking, three wheeled machine that totally caught my attention. I had no clue even what that crazy looking contraption was called, and I only saw it for a few fleeting seconds as it tore out of the parking lot at work, taking with it my desire. So, as soon as I got home that night, I started searching the internet for any and all information to help educate myself about the contraption that had totally captured not only my interest, but also my imagination as well. Any rational person would have thought I had an addiction, like an internet porn addiction, as I couldn't help myself. Every night after work, I was glued to the computer trying to find more and more information, pictures, whatever I could get my eyes on, I just couldn't get enough, I was totally enthrawed.

A little backstory here for you to help explain how the Spyder became my first "bike" ever. When I was about 15, I had a buddy (19) who had a crotch rocket and thought himself the "Evil Keneval" of his day, and I have to give it to him, when he wasn't show-boat'n he seemed to really be able to handle his bike. Then one day, he's out showing off like a "normal" 19 y/o young man does, trying to desperately impress the girls and he ended up making a terrible mistake in judgement and laying his bike down at 60mph. Luckily he was wearing his full gear, and that saved his life, but sadly, not his left leg. At 19 years of age, my buddy had to have his left leg amputated right below the kneecap.

Talking about changing a persons perspective, and not in a good way. After the accident, he was a totally different person and I felt really bad, cause we lost contact soon after as he had to relocate to deal with all of his new medical conditions and to learn to adapt to living life as an amputee. After seeing this happen to someone that I knew, at such an age, I swore right then and there that I'd never trust myself to ride a 2 wheeled motorcycle and I never had, not even as a passenger.

Don't get me wrong, I loved riding my 10 speed bicycle when growing up as a kid, and I could only imagine how good the feeling of freedom must be, to effortlessly go almost any speed that you so desired with the wind blasting your face and the countryside zipping by, all with just the flick of the wrist.

But I also was well aware that my father was a horrible alcoholic who would frequently drink and drive and cause accidents, just to be escorted home by our local police department instead of thrown in jail like he should have been. So I grew up watching this and learning not to trust myself, cause I desperately didn't want to end up like my father, and back in this time, the jury was just announcing that behaviors like alcoholism and addiction could be hereditarily inherited by the children, but this is for a whole other book. Just understand, I DID have a great desire to ride a motorcycle, but never allowed myself to even try as a passenger, for fear of becomming addicted to the rush, and ultimately killing myself.

So yeah, when I first glimpsed that sporty looking RS Spyder in the parking lot at my work, all those desires were rekindled, with a new outlook, cause this had three wheels instead of two, that meant that I couldn't lay this bike (if that's what it was even considered?)

Damn it, this work thing is taking too much of my writing time. Sorry folks, once again, TBC..................

U post some very interesting stuff that's fun to follow. :2thumbs: Where's the rest of the story ... ?

Just a quick FYI for everyone

Sorry I'm a little distant on here lately, been working OT at work and have over done myself, to the point I had to take yesterday off and didn't get off the couch except to go to the chiropractors office. Ive been getting loaned out at work, and the job in the department I got loaned to was very physical, with alot of bending, reaching and lifting mildly heavy parts, at least compared to my usual department. All said and done, I just over did myself, too much that I wasn't used to, too soon. I'm back at work today, and its our last work day before our summer shut-down. So at least (after today) I'll have the next 2 weeks off to fully recoup.

As time has been allowing here at work, I've been going back and updating "Teds Tail" as much as I can. When I update a previous post however, it doesn't show up under the "NEW POSTS" in the forum directory, so you'll just have to check back every now and then, but I should have his story finished this weekend. Thanks everyone for being so patient.

dav n ted~

I really enjoyed your post and I recall the memories from my own childhood. Its common story
of every home where the dad is commonly dominant.
I passed my time in very congested environment and now I'm enjoying my life with my labradoodle. :)

Getting Worried

Dave/Teddy,

We have not heard from you in quite some time. Getting very concerned. There is another thread started about you. Not like you to not post. Please remember we all look forward to hearing from you and Teddy. Take care.

BUMP:helpsmilie:were's Teddy today??? Dave YOU must be at work slaving away for me and my Soc. Sec. I thank you for that!!! Now get with the program and get the story cought up!!!:dontknow:

An unexpected break

No worries, Teddy is happy, healthy & well & I am sorry for not updating y'all sooner, just alot going on, and much is not Spyder nor Teddy related, so I'm trying to respect what this forum is all about and not drag people into our unrelated personal drama.

I'll just say that my best friends mom has been battling breast cancer for the second time in her life, albeit 30 years apart. She is the closest thing I have left in my life as a mother figure, since my own mother passed 8 years ago. Her having complications and being admitted to the hospital has assulted me emotionally more than I was prepared for nor even understood. She was released yesterday and back resting at home before trying to continue with radiation and chemotherapy.

As desire, intellect and emotions allow, I will continue updating our stories and adventures here for all of Teddy's Fans. Again, sorry for being so distant here on SpyderLovers.

dave and ted~

I wish her and you all the best ,prayers are with you both. Take care and when you are ready we will all be glad to hear Teddy's and your's tails.
