There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

Dave, this doesn't seem to fit in the "MOST EXCELLENT ADVENTURE" heading:dontknow:................glad to hear that you are on the mend!:2thumbs:

Teddy

:yikes: That is some scary stuff! I'm glad it wasn't worse and you are on the mend. :spyder:Maybe Teddy was trying to send you a message.

Just wanted to take a minute to share

:pray:Teddy & I are keeping ALL of you East Coasters in our thoughts and prayers:pray:

We didn't get much sleep last night do to the constant high winds & spitting rain/sleet (damn skylites right above the bed) that we're getting from the remnants of Sandy & the combined 'SuperStorm' and we're over 500 miles inland from the coast, so I can only imagine how bad it is there.
Just know, you have friends that are sending well wishes, good thoughts and prayers your way.

If theres anything we can do directly to help someone in need, please feel free to PM & know that we will do all that we can to help. We DO have an extra bedroom thats not used, in a worse case scenerio.

Please forgive this prolonged diversion from Teddys Adventures.... its lyfe tho

As many of you know, most of this Spydering Lyfestyle is totally new to Teddy & I, as of 2 years ago. I mean, before aquiring our addiction, we'd never rode on a motorcycle, never worked on any type of vehicle, never spent any time in a garage, besides in the waiting room. In the past, growing up, we never had a garage for automobiles, just storage. As an adult, our garages had always been just a place to park our vehicles, and store 'stuff' but little else was done in them.

So now, due to financial constraints, I'm finding myself in need to learn to do as much maintenance and mods as possible, myself. That's how this whole situation all started, with a simple flat tire, that lead to another mod and another and another to where we find ourselves today. Along this path, I have learned alot and am constantly learning every day, especially with the plentiful and sage advice of this Great Forum & ALL of YOU that are so willing to lend a helping hand (so to speak)

Lord only knows where we'd find ourselves today, without y'all. One thing I do know, with the way we got started with our very first Spyder, is that we wouldn't still own one today, and our lives would be totally different than they are now, and we would have missed so much great fun & meeting so many awesome people, ALL along for the ryde.

But that's history, so back to the present. I bring this all up, cause like the infection we all know as 'Farkling' in the Spyder Kingdom, I'm coming to find, has many variations. Again, this addiction is ALL new to us, never having been bitten before by any addiction like it. So now, in just trying to complete the transformation of our garage to just store stuff and park the car, into something worthy & useable for Teds Red Sled, I seem to be running into thing after thing I've never thought of before.

Ok, lets break it down to its essential parts. What is NEEDED, WANTED, USEFUL in a workable garage space?

I know to many of you, this must all seem so trivial and second nature, but for me, everytime I turned around before, I kept loosing tools in all the clutter, knew I had a tool or part, but just couldn't locate it, it was maddening I tell you. I found myself trying to run, before I had even learned to walk, so to speak. Taking two steps forward and one step back, time after time. So much so and being so frustrated with myself, that's why I finally decided to put everything with modding on hold, to do what needed to be done with the garage. Once the garage is completed, a place for everything and everything in its place, the modding should hopefully be a cake walk.

As we have it set up right now, we have two working stations with pegboard in front of both with hangers for many of the smaller hand tools. 3 medium sized storage bins for electric hand tools. Open shelving soon to be lined with remnant indoor outdoor carpet (Teddy picked up at Lowes for next to nothing- Gotta Luv that dog) for protecting the body panels & parts once removed, so I can get them off the carpeting of our living room & safely stored out of the way til needed.

We were almost finished with arranging all the Metro shelving when it hit me, what about a place for gear? Don't we need a place to store ryding gear/helmets/jackets/etc....? and lord knows, all the Spyder/Ryding paraphanallia that Teddy has, like his different carriers, cooling equiptment for summer & heated equiptment for winter.

It just hit me like a ton of bricks:banghead: AHA!!! NOW I'M STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHY I'M SO DAMN BROKE!!! I hadn't thought of this before. Addictions aren't cheap & neither is Teddy :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
But OH SO WORTH IT!!!

Do you have any traditions that include your Spyder to share?

I'm really trying to make a conscious effort to stay positive, especially here on Teds Thread, as being unable to ryde, is quite frankly, very depressing. Along with my lack of experience & funds, trying to make due with what we have has been challenging, but manageable. This only personally effected Teddy & myself, that is til this past Wednesday, which as you all know was Holloween.

Ever since we had our first RT-S Spyder in 2010, my best friends daughter has loved it & wants to be taken for a ryde every time Teddy & I go over to see them, which we happily oblidge. With that first Spyder, we also had the RT622 trailer & I came up with the idea of using the Spyder & Trailer to take Madison & 1 of her best friends (along with her mother as a chaparone in the back) around the neighborhood for Trick or Treat on Holloween Night. This worked out great, as we never got above 5mph, just going from driveway to driveway in their suburb & her mom was making sure all was secure before every stop & go. After doing one side of a street, the neighbors on the other side would actually bring the candy up to us, cause they wanted to see the Spyder, trailer, kids & most of most of all, The Tedster in his full ryding gear & Doggles. It was great, soon the kids didn't even have to get out, just sit there after we stopped & wait for the curious ppl to approach us, many with cameras in hand. WoW!!! Talking about spoiled-lol- It was never that easy when I was a kid-lol

Well, it worked out great & we all had a wonderful time & the kids got more candy than ever, so we decided to make this a yearly tradition. Since we traded the 10 Spyder & Trailer in on Teds Red Sled, and we also have the Moto-Mate Camper, we did the same thing last year & just about the entire neighborhood lved it. Most the kids walking along the sidewalks were making the comments of, "WOW! That's the coolest thing ever, we want to be with you guys next year." I think Madison made quite an impression on the rest of the neighborhood kids-lol to say the least, GOOD TIMES!

Sadly, this year we couldn't do it, cause I've still got it all tore apart & am a little depressed that I had to disappoint Madison, as she was so looking forward to doing it again, for the 3rd year in a row.

Curious, do any of you have traditions involving your Spyder that you'd like to share & help cheer me up?

Christmas Spyder Tradition...

Hubby and I started this tradition when Son was on his first deployment overseas. It was just the two of us on Christmas morning. I was pretty ripped up about Son not being home for the holidays, so we made a new Christmas morning tradition.

Early Christmas morning, we get on our bikes and put them places they shouldn't be. It's fun going into downtown Houston, no one around, riding through the park paths and other places that you would normally get in trouble for going. We take pictures and send them as our Christmas pics to family and friends.

Son has been back home for Christmas for a couple years now. No wild morning rides. But this year he wants to spend it at their house with his lovely bride.

Sooo...
We're back to plotting and planning where we're going to put Spydee this year!

RE: Do you have any traditions that include your Spyder to share?

Having just gotten the Spyder earlier this year, so no traditions thus far.

But we are taking it to Louisiana for Thanksgiving and this will be our first long distance two-up ride with the trailer. So how knows.
Eat-Ham-Happy-Thanksgiving-Eat-ham-turkey-smiley-emoticon-000927-medium.gif

PS: Hope everything is going ok...haven't seen a post from the Tedster in a while, which seems a bit outside the norm.

are you and Teddy all healed from your last adventure?

yeah, creeping farkle syndrome is an insidious desease..... i would love to expand my garage but the problem with that is, in the famous words of George Carlin, 'it would just create more space for more sh*t cause you move sh*t from here to there and then collect more sh*t to fill in the space created by.....', well you get the point.... lol

and I write this as I get ready to head out for the Bikers for Babies march of dimes ride today where I will collect more sh*t.......

Alive we are

You know, I've NEVER thought myself inflicted with OCD, ADD/ADHD sure enough, I'm text book as the Therapist told me about 6 years ago, and it explained alot about my childhood & why growing up was such a challenge for me. But we learn ways to overcome and move on, even when not knowing we may be inflicted witha certain malady. Why do I bring this up? Well, cause after finally getting ALL of the Metro shelves organized and errected, I found the very last pole completely blocked the only light switch in the garage. Are you freaking serious??? Sure enough, blocked it was. Sure, I could angle out that last rack an inch or two on that end, just enough so I could manage to squeze my fat fingers back the to glip the switch, but I know me and it would drive me freaking crazy in a matter of days and I would be frustrated every time I'd go to flip it on or off.

So, what do I do? What could I do? With it being a small one car garage, we need every bit of space to be useable as possible. I may be divorced & not have the issue of having to deal with all of the 'missus's' stuff, but have you ever scene Teddys' collection of 'stuff'. That dog could give Tammy Fay Baker a run for her money:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: So this entire past week, with barely able to use my rigt arm/hand, I deconstructed everything I had done and figured out the puzzle to eliminate the need for all the shelves to be individual standing units with their own supporting poles and instead, made 4 full units into one interconnected unit thereby eliminating the need for an extra 2 sets of poles, freeing up just enough floorspace to give me free unobstructed clearance to that dang light switch. The one side worked out so well, it made the other side look ------sloppy and it bugged me that the one side looked so much better than the other, that yup, there I went again. I deconstructed everything on this side as well, and made it all match and we ended up using every available shelf except for two, so we even gained more storage space.

Along with all of this, I shockingly found many of my power tools that I had long thought were lost in the fire. A couple power drills and especially a Fein Multi-tool that I had just bought about a week prior to the fire and I had never even used it and it was still in perfect condition, safe from the fire and water in its case. Guess I'm like most typicle guys in this area, as I was like a kid at Christmas that had just stumbled upon a forgotten present that I had been longing for, and I eagerly broke it out and happily went to work doing a bunch of things that I was going to have to borrow tools from my buddy to do.

I've been quit on here cause I've

:yikes: Glad to know you are doing okay and the project is............well.............coming along. Or should I say "projects". Rome wasn't built in a day, my friend. It will come together after you do some more of :banghead:

Continuation

I guess I've done more damage to my arm than I was aware of. That, coupled with having to use it so much in trying to get everything completed with the garage so we can start on all the mods and the reassembly of Teds Red Sled, and my arm is usable, but not without alot of pain. In a perfect world, yes I'd go back to my doctor for PT or whatever, but my world is far from perfect right now. Hours being cut at work, and I'm dealing with having my phone and internet services interupted for the time being, so this is just something I have to deal with til better times come along. In all reality, I guess this is my new reality of having to live on a sub-40 hour pay check, unlike before when overtime was plentiful, and I guess owning a Spyder is NOT "Living within our means" anymore. The very thought of life without a Spyder is something however I've not brought myself to contemplate. I mean ------- I don't know what I mean -------- Sometimes, reality just sucks. But then I remind myself of all those poor unfortunate souls that live on the Jersey Shore that just lost everything and I remind myself, that it can always be worse, as I know from personal experience myself. Sorry, I'm just very frustrated and not being able to ryde just makes it worse. That was our escape our therapy and without it, well------- now maybe you understand a little better why I haven't been posting lately, as none of this is in the interest or the intention of this thread.

Hang in there buddy

Hang in there buddy were all thinking of you an ted, wouldnt be the same here without its two most recognisable ambassadors .
