dash vent questions

Hello , I am new to the spyder world . So please forgive me if I posted this in thed wrong forum or there has already been a question asked about this . I have a 2009 Sypder RS. I have had my spyder for 2 weeks , I have yet to tinker with my spyder. Does anyone on here know what the vents on each side of the "dashboard" are for ? are they just vents to bring cool air to the driver or is there a purpose ? If they are not there for any real purpose I will get creative over the winter and customize a type of speaker pod .which installing a custom stereo on the sypder wont be a problem since I have somewhere around 20 years in the mobile elctronics world building different vehicles from mild to wild . Now my wife wont allow me to go crazy but she will allow me to get a little custom with my new baby. I am not a fan of the JL audio style speaker enclosure that they are selling . I am not knocking JL audio they make great products but I dont like the design /look. Thank you for any help I look forward to hopefully meeting and riding with some of you in the future !!!!

wow looking around I noticed that some people did put speakers in those vents . so my quesion technically has been answered . LOL . Sorry for the clutter on the server !!!!! I probably shouldnt be on line where I am looking at stuff like this but whatever .

welcome to the site. let us know what u come up with for a system. i plan to mount a head unit in the trunk, speakers on the dash area, remote on the bars. search spyder sound systems, you'll be amazed:clap:

They don't seem to really do much- -maybe let some heat out for the electronics in the cluster area-- but I wouldn't be concerned about it as many have modified them.

I think the designers at BRP realized the dash would look much better with vent holes than a flat plastic dash.:thumbup::thumbup:

Cool thanks !!!! I apprecaite the assistance and help . Once I figure out what I plan on doing ill post inprocess pics as well as after. Before pics are rather useless since we all know what the clusters look like on our spyders . Its a pleasure to hear from you all and the help is always appreciated. I have done some looking at some custom spyders and they are all excellent in the pictures I am not one to hate on a persons custom just because i dont like something , I know what time, money, personality and labor goes into building ones own precious . Now if the dang weather men/women would lighten up on this rain thing here in chicago-ish I would really add some miles to my spyder !!!! But Thank you again for the quick help !
