I think dad could of walked him six feet into the woods and introduced him to the "old wood shed" and let him pick out the switch.
Just how old is that guy - far to old to still be at home and not working
Parents just have to be "creative".Not today; would go more along these lines:
CPS, hello is this CPS; I'd like to report my father being abusivenojoke:lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie:
Parents just have to be "creative".
If johnny needs to stay home a couple days because he is sick from visiting the "wood shed", so be it. If all else fails, johnny is free to take his games and go live elsewhere. I think johnny might be shocked when he flicks the light switch and doesnt light up and wonders why it doesnt work.
Where I was raised it was "yes sir, no sir" if you forgot.....Dad reminded you that he is you Dad and not one of your buddies on the block you hang out with. Still repsect the man today, and raised my son the same way. Its what I was told by my parents a long time ago, "its not abuse, its called discipline"........ I laughed so had when Grandpa told my boy the same story when he was little.
Oh, and dont get caught throwing a fit in the grocery store with Mom. I swear shr never hit my butt with the fly swatter, always the back of the legs. And if that didnt work for you, you got the ole...."wait till your Dad gets home" speach. Then you knew you were screwed, because you got it twice.
And all that I never expected a trophy if I didnt win, nor a grade I didnt earn.
Yep, I have no problems with how I was raised. Back then.....maybe, but ALL parents were the bad guys.....LOL
You say physical abuse, its nothing more than a spanking from the parent. I remember getting "licks" at school from the principle with a 3 foot paddle. And that was obviously acceptable waaay back when. But everyone has there own views on discipline. If you look at what I call the "time out" generation, doesnt really seem to be working. There doesnt seem to be very much worth in the kids eyes on a honest days work for an honest days pay. And the old addage of a "man is only as good as his word".
Other than the physical abuse part of what you said, I agree with you.
However now a days seems the CPS part is used more and more by the little lambs to extricate themselves from uncomfortable situations. Not defending it as right, but it does seen to be more the norm then the exception:gaah:
The idea of correcting or doing anything to a kid that is not your own that is acting out in your personal space is not viewed kindly by most of the helicopter mothers or fathers! To do much more than speak sternly to you own in public runs the risk of others dropping a dime on you to CPS.
The idea of earning the responsibility and awards seems archaic and out of step with the mood of society today.
Around twenty five seems to be the new age for fledging of the young from the nest.
None of this should be viewed as agreeing with this mentality of our society, just reporting what appear to be the "facts".:banghead::banghead::banghead:
The reason that I think that this one was staged...
It was pretty apparent that Dad wasn't out there to mow the lawn ... yet the kid really didn't make ANY effort to pull his "cherished" games out of harm's way. All that he had to do; would be to grab them, and pitch them into the bushes.
Entertaining; but fake!
