• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cyber-attacks...

 Did you see what has been going on?

Most of my Company websites were acting a bit wonky today.
Now I know why! :gaah:

It's like the "Men in Black" scene where Will Smith says to Tommy Lee Jones, "Hurry, the earth is going to be destroyed in an hour!" And Tommy-Lee's response is, "The earth is going to be destroyed in an hour every day."

We're always under cyber attack, just today they've been a little more effective. They say the next large-scale terrorist attack will probably be cyber. Just think of what pieces of our lives are linked to computers and "the cloud."

It will be interesting to see where it originated. I also find it interesting that it is not making much splash on tonight's news -- not sexy or bloody enough for the news media.

Hummmm, wounder if this was a test for another well planned disruption early in November. :dontknow:

The malware that executed this was not on computers, mostly. It was on all sorts of other internet connected devices like DVRs, Roku, thermostats, even a toaster! I heard this afternoon it started in the east and as they got it knocked down it steadily moved westward.

I think the company that got hit does a lot more than just direct your computer to the URL you type in the browser address line. Ever notice how many analytics web addresses, and all sorts of 3rd party URLs scroll across the bottom of your browser when you're surfing? I think sometimes 80% + of the traffic back and forth between your computer and your destination site is side track traffic to tracking websites.

Next time you type in a search phrase into Google take a look at the suggestions that drop down. A lot of them will be related to other sites you have just been visiting. Even with ad blockers running Google is capturing everything you do.

Well....

Outside of being here...I have nothing to worry about...still know how to use paper and pencil and dial a phone...:roflblack::roflblack:

What I heard yesterday is the malware code was released only a few weeks ago on the dark net and uses coding so simple even a half smart teen or senior could replicate or modify it and send it out. No Russian intelligence needed for this one.
