• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cutting off the Resonator

CUT UPS

i've cut up a number of both GS & RT mufflers... the GS has the 'cat' built into the muffler, while the RT does not.... and it is a 'CAT'... resonators perform a completely different function... both the GS & the RT have mufflers that are way over built (MHO)... quiet most likely was BRP's objective here... on my '09 GS, i now have a mini-OEM muffler, reduced in length by 9 inches, and a CHERRY BOMB glassed-packed muffler installed. the tone is now MOTORCYCLE LIKE... not a 'woooosh' but a 'GROWL'..... alterations on RT's have been successful - ask PICKLEHEAD if you what another opinion...
here are a few pix: #1, is the insides of the GS, you can see the 'cat' on the right... #2 is what i am now using on my RS, #3 is the finished look & #4 is my shortened version of the RT... i took 7 inches out of the length, and gutted the inners...

If one was to remove the catalytic converter, would it be a reason to deny a warranty issue if one arose on your bike? Just think of the weight loss be removing it, plus give the bike a more meaner sound. The Spyder looks mean enough by itself but if it sounded mean too, that would be a plus.

In the US, under the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, warranty coverage cannot be denied for aftermarket equipment or other modifications unless it can be shown that they contributed to or caused the warranted problem. The warranty remains intact for unrelated items, even if a link can be shown to the one denied. In other words, if you have an engine problem that could be attributed to the removal of the CAT (like running lean), then they could deny your claim. Meanwhile, a problem with something like the oil pressure sensor or a broken camshaft would have to be covered. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't try, nor that it would be easy to overcome some dealers' resistance, but it is the law. On the other hand, in states with emissions testing testing or stock exhaust laws, you could have difficulty with those rules. You would not be the first to remove or gut the CAT.

Well here in Arkansas we don't have a safety inspection stations anymore. So all vehicle are not tested for emissions either. In order to get your license for any vehicle all you need to have is proof of insurance and have your property accessed for the current year.
