• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Customers having RT's already?

I spoke to the owner Russ himself and asked him these questions

Q) Is this a PE Edition
A) Yes

This call and these answers I have recorded on my "handy dandy" phone recorder, and are not from memory but from the tape.

Hey Evan, I have no doubt he told you this was a PE but when I went back and looked at the close up of his photos, no where did I see a PE number stitched into the seat. I thought that is where it was supposed to be. Please correct me if I am wrong. I just think he fed you a line.

This is from the BRP site. http://spyder.brp.com/SpyderMY09/_Static/en-US/pdf/BRPE103RTS_PremiereEdition.pdf

Last May 08, I went to look at a Spyder. I was told i would have to leave a thousand dollar deposit and wait 3 month's for delivery. I gave him the deposit, Three day's later he call's me and ask's, If it came in sooner when will i be willing to pay for it / and how will i pay? I told him the day it comes in, I'll be in that day and pay in full. Guess what it came in that day". ;);););)

P/S Over the years i've bought many atv's/snowmobile's/bike's/trailer's/ and a rhino, 15 to 20 + machines in all at this dealer. Some times it's who you know// Some times it's the luck of the draw.

They should just give up on PE they blundered it the first time around what gone to stop them from doing it again.Though this time around I don't think the orders are coming in fast enough to exceed 1500 but they should be shipped as per order was taken and certifcate was generated just my 2 cents :gaah:

Just out of curiosity, I google'd Cam Am Spyder RT for sale to see what would come up. A bunch of dealers, mostly saying they are taking deposits for the new RT. I did come across one ad in cycle trader for a dealer in Toledo OH and called that one because it looked like they were selling one outright but they aren't. I spoke with someone who said they have a demo unit but it is not for sale right now and they are taking deposits for the delivery of the new RT's. So I don't think that all dealers are selling demo units - they probably know better not to and the one that sold the RT in question wasn't supposed to - whether they knew it or not what they did was a rut row.

Frosted Butts . . . . .

I ordered 50K worth of BRP products that day in Sept. (PE RT and trailer, and 2010 GTX-IS Sea-Doo) and to find out off the street customers are leaving with an RT already just frosts my butt! :gaah:

. . . . . sounds like a cereal.

I agree with Deb, there are a lot of unanswered questions on this. Though, if I had a deposit down on an RT, I would be wondering where mine was. Sounds like a call to your dealer is in order.

My understanding ( and I don't have one on order ) is that the PE model ( purchased with a deposit ) have several extras - like the iPod and seat stitching - so, delivery on those may take a little longer.

BRP did not "count" dealer demo models or prototypes as PEs when it made the first Spyder models. That does not mean the the buying public did not, but I remember reading all the posts where people were trying to figure out VINs and PE #s and certificates. According to the post on the BRP site, where this whole PE and numbering was asked about, they explained how the total # of Spyders manufactured during the initial manufacturing period was greater than the number of PEs ( which, were serialized special editions )

Anyway, the delivery of "reserved" PE Spyders is an issue between the buyer and their dealership. It is up to the dealer to get that information from BRP and then get it to you.

Not having put down a deposit on an RT, I have this question; When you got your receipt, did it specify which # PE you were going to get? If not, you are at the mercy and integrity of the dealer as to when you will get an RT PE.

If you want something done, it seems to me that you will have to haul your frosted butt down to your dealer and get them working on this to get the answers to your questions. If this is a rogue dealer, the other dealers are the ones going to get 'burned'. Any punitive action will probably probably be done through the dealer network policing itself.

Here's the deal as it was suppose to happen.

Since September 1st, 2009 and until December 5th, 2009 a consumer may pre-order a new, 2010 Spyder RT-S SE5 Timeless Black Premiere Edition or 2010 Spyder RT-S SM5 Timeless Black Premiere Edition with a $1,000 deposit. The authorized Can-Am Spyder dealer then generates a "pre-sale certificate" with BRP. Note: The certificate number has nothing to do with the vehicle's VIN.

· By pre-ordering a RT-S SE5 Timeless Black Premiere Edition or a RT-S SM5 Timeless Black Premiere Edition, the consumer will receive the following and exclusive Premiere Edition benefits: An embroidered and numbered "Premiere Edition" seat and a 8GB iPod Nano engraved with "Spyder RT-S Premiere Edition" and pre-loaded with Spyder RT images and videos. This is the new iPod Nano with built-in video camera and FM Radio with "pause" feature. The iPod will be shipped with the Spyder RT-S Premiere Edition. We will be building 1,500 Spyder RT Premiere Editions.

· In November, we are scheduled to begin shipping each authorized Can-Am Spyder dealer a 2010 Spyder RT-S Timeless Black for demo purposes. This unit is to be used by the dealer for showroom and demo purposes only. This is NOT a Premiere Edition, the seat is not stitched and does not include an iPod. We learnt our lesson on this one in 2007!

· In December, we are scheduled to begin shipping the 1,500 Spyder RT-S Timeless Black Premiere Editions. The 1,500 Premiere Editions should be shipped from December through February.

· Pre-orders are coming in regularly and there are still units available within the 1,500 Premiere Edition build.

I just checked my Certificate, no number on mine (# PE)!

LIke you don't think I was on the phone with my dealer at their opening today!

They don't have any answers for me yet, but I'm sure the phones are lit up at BRP today for sure.

Same here! Been doing the same thing. No answer for me either yet.

Hi guys,
Just an update after speaking to my dealer rep for BRP each dealer was givin the opportunity to purchase more than one production RTS (NON PREIMERE EDITION) all those shipped in the last few weeks. So what you are seeing is only production units that were suppose to be used as Demo. Each dealer has the ability to sell their demo's if they ordered more than one. So for those that have ordered PE those are being built know. Hope this clarifies some things and some peoples feelings :-)

WOW!

Here we go again -- another BRP PE # snafu.

Hopefully they will resolve this one. Gotta keep those dealers under control.

I wonder if they will keep the PE # to 1,500 this time? That was the original number for our PE Spyders too --- but they started selling so fast they increased it to 2,500.

Certainly understand your frustration Evan--- I would be steamed too.

I remember hearing of plenty of people walking into stores and leaving with PE Spyders before many of us got ours--- and my dealer required a $2,000 deposit !

You would think they learned their lesson the first time.

confuses the heck out of me :hun: Is ANYTHING cut and dry w/ this company?

If you have the $$ in hand..

Spoke with my dealer today and they are still waiting for their demo. I told him that someone had already bought one and asked him if there would be any penalties, reprimands, etc. and he stated that it's their demo and they could sell it if they want to, but then they wouldn't have anything to show prospective buyers. So, if you have cash in hand and want your RT NOW, find a dealer that's willing to sell it. They just won't get another one as a demo for a while.

I think that could hurt them if they sold a demo. I mean no problem for people who already own Spyders to want to upgrade but for new people going into the Spyder community - just my opinion - not a good idea to sell a demo. Taking a chance on losing future customers but hey, money talks I guess.

But I am still confused - BRP says these demos should not be for sale but dealers say they can sell them NOW? I don't get it.
