• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

custom wheels other than BRP

Questions

As a new soon to be spyder owner, and dreaming up my wish list of mods, I was wondering if anyone makes stock sized custom front wheels. Using the search function I found some people talking about up sizing, but nothing stock besides the factory options.

welcome

I am not aware of any, as most that I have seen have been larger wheels placed onto the Spyder.

When I was in Daytona, a guy saw my Spyder and gave me some brochures on the 18 in wheels they were making for the fronts. They were running them without the fenders, and some of Spyders they were installed on were having computer issues when they hit 40 miles an hour. I am pretty sure not changing the back tire size, and the changes in the front wheel speed sensors are probably wreaking havoc on the computer, so I did not keep those brochures. ;)

Most after market rims for spyder are all size 15' to 18'. I have been riding with my 17' rims on my spyder for a year this month, and I have put more than 17,000 miles in this time. No problems with any electrical parts on my spyder:yes: It rides so much better with the 17's on. Here is a company that makes some rims. http://ridewrightwheels.com/RWWBLOG/?page_id=206
Only other one is 7 industries.

Switching tire size can be quite dangerous as the computer is configured to the stock tire size. You likely won't realize this problem until you are on a very slippery road or encounter some other hazard. Bigger tires also usually mean a higher center of gravity, and this also works against you with traction issues. As you increase tire size, you would need to decrease rim size (consider tire wall to be same size) to effectively keep the revolutions the same...if not, you are altering the mileage on the car.

Here's a good read on tire sizes...
