• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Curse you DESS

Please explain......" No DESS issue "..........Are they saying you didn't have one ????........or do you mean " they said they fixed it, by re-placing the broken one " ? ? ?.............BECAUSE IF IT SHOWED ON YOUR SCREEN.....you had a problem and it is logged into your spyder's computer and can be retrieved by BUDS !!!!................Mike

Concerning the logging of the error - the dealer claimed that the DESS error hadn't shown up in the log. I got the error at least a dozen times over the three hours I tried to keep starting my bike a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't find it listed. I find that very disturbing and am thankful for Deanna's advice of taking a picture of the dashboard when the error shows up. I'll definitely do that next time if it happens again.

For the 2014's, there are two codes for "Communication Problem with the Key" -- U0167 and U0426. The suggested "action" in both cases is a careful checking of voltage or resistance at various places in the DESS wiring. I agree with BlueKnight that it seems highly unlikely that the system generated a screen error but didn't store one of these codes. Only the BRP programmers know for sure. I like Deanna's idea of the photo. I would never have thought of that. Shouldn't be necessary but...

COMPUTER MEMORY

I mean that I brought the bike in with a DESS error, the dealer replaced the DESS module, when I picked the bike up (and ever since then) the problem has not shown up.

IMHO as far as what they are telling you about codes and memory .....they are either incompetent or are lying......Everything that happens to your Spyder is on the computer memory...it doesn't dis-appear....BUDS can find it and read it.....This is not my OPINION ,this is a FACT...........I got this info from one of the TOP BRP TECH's at Spyderfest.....I have no reason to think He made it up............If you think stuff you have DELETED from your Home computer is gone ....guess again..........I know people who can retrieve it ( for a fee of course )..................I just mention this for your knowledge when dealing with people who may not have your best interest as their top priority.......................................Mike

I couldn't agree more - there is a clear conflict between "Every error code is logged" and "The DESS error you got for 3 hours doesn't show up in the log". The only thing that occurs to me is that DESS is not like the other error codes, but I can't imagine why that would be. Gypsy_100 said the key error codes were "U0167 and U0426" which I didn't get.

Whatever the case, Deanna's suggestion for taking a picture is a simple and easy way to ensure that you have something to prove that you got the error. And, [email protected] was definitely instrumental in pushing this through despite the dealer's incompetence/not having my best interest in mind/not seeing the error in the log.

Again, this forum is an invaluable source for getting good information and help ... and a lot of opinions.
