No DESS issue "..........Are they saying you didn't have one ????........or do you mean " they said they fixed it, by re-placing the broken one " ? ? ?.............BECAUSE IF IT SHOWED ON YOUR SCREEN.....you had a problem and it is logged into your spyder's computer and can be retrieved by BUDS !!!!................Mike :thumbup:
Concerning the logging of the error - the dealer claimed that the DESS error hadn't shown up in the log. I got the error at least a dozen times over the three hours I tried to keep starting my bike a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't find it listed. I find that very disturbing and am thankful for Deanna's advice of taking a picture of the dashboard when the error shows up. I'll definitely do that next time if it happens again.
For the 2014's, there are two codes for "Communication Problem with the Key" -- U0167 and U0426. The suggested "action" in both cases is a careful checking of voltage or resistance at various places in the DESS wiring. I agree with BlueKnight that it seems highly unlikely that the system generated a screen error but didn't store one of these codes. Only the BRP programmers know for sure. I like Deanna's idea of the photo. I would never have thought of that. Shouldn't be necessary but...
